Abstract:
Tourism is one of the major drivers behind the growth of a country's economy and
plays an important role in the economy of a country to a great extent. The paper
examines various roles played by tourism, particularly in raising Gross Domestic
Product (GDP), employment, and foreign exchange earnings. It is labor-intensive and
network-based and contributes towards the growth of ancillary industries like
transport, hospitality, and retail while encouraging infrastructure and FDI.
Furthermore, it promotes regional development by directing income to
underdeveloped areas, consequently diminishing economic inequalities.
Issues over over-tourism, environmental degradation, and economic seasonality that
may limit the effectiveness of tourism as a sustainable economic driver are further
probed in this study. Its results highlight the necessity of strategic planning and policy
frameworks for both economic growth and environmental and cultural preservation.
Tourism can diversify the economy of these countries, especially those reliant on
traditional industries, and promote global cultural exchange.
This research concludes that tourism, once managed effectively, can be transformative
for economic growth, providing for both short-run and long-term benefits. On the
other hand, tourism, if used sustainably along with strategic management, can offer
maximum positive
