PROJECT BRIEF

PROJECT-RESIDENCE

Design Faculty: Maximum Marks: 100

Ar. Preethi A Credits: 08
Ar. Poonam Shah Project Period: Fourteen Weeks

Design objectives

 Understanding basic architectural design Process.

 Pre Design Studies and their impact.
 Designing and building as a response to both tangible factors such as geography and intangible
factors such as culture.
 Learning the basic drawings representing design.

Introduction

Designing a residence is a deeply human-centered architectural exercise that blends functionality,

comfort, and aesthetics with the unique lifestyle of its inhabitants. The aim is to conceptualize and
develop a residential space that responds meaningfully to the users’ needs, the site context, and
environmental considerations.

This project explores how architecture can shape daily life through spatial planning, natural light,
ventilation, and thoughtful zoning. Key concerns include climatic responsiveness and efficient use of
space.

Through this project, students will engage in comprehensive design thinking—from site analysis and
conceptual ideation to detailed planning and presentation—developing skills in visual communication,
spatial reasoning, and sustainable practices.

Site

The selected site (hypothetical) for the residential design project is located in C-Scheme, one of the most
prestigious and centrally located neighborhoods in Jaipur. Known for its mix of traditional bungalows,
modern homes, and boutique commercial spaces, C-Scheme offers a unique urban context that blends
heritage charm with contemporary living. The plot is well-connected to civic infrastructure and public
amenities, making it an ideal location for a residence.

The architectural approach aims to create a context-responsive home that uses passive design
strategies, local materials, and spatial planning to offer a livable, sustainable urban dwelling.
