Repentance, returning to God (Greek: Metanoeo, Hebrew: Teshuváh)

The word 'repent' can begin to be understood from the Greek word from which it is derived.
translated. This word is 'metanoeo' (Strong: G3340 μετανοέω). The New Concordance
Greek of Man tells us that 'it is a change of mind and heart that moves away from
egocentrism and sin, and approaches God and holiness.

The comparable word used in the Old Covenant is "teshuváh" (Strong:H7725)‫)תשובה‬. This
The word is generally translated as 'return' or 'going back'. The verbal root is 'shuv'.
what it means to return.

Following the rule of hermeneutics, that the first time a word is used in the Bible
explain the meaning of this, we find that the first time it appears in the Scripture is
in Genesis:

Genesis 3:17-19, "And to the man he said: Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree...

plants of the field. With the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread until you return (Shuv) to the
earth, for you were taken from it; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return (Shuv).

The word "return", used twice in these verses, is the first occurrence of the word.
repent. This is linked to the 'fall' of Adam.

The foundation of repentance is to return to the place where you came from. Adam came from
dust and there is where he "teshuváh", returned. The root of repentance is to turn back towards something.
This is what we have to return to, which is critical. Examine this for a while. Isn’t this the
constant cry of God for His people?

Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Turn, and return from your
idols, and turn your face away from all your abominations. Ezekiel 14:6
Say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I

the gospel. Mark 1:15

So, repent and convert, so that your sins may be wiped away; so that they may come
from the presence of the Lord times of refreshing, Acts 3:19

The parable of the Prodigal Son summarizes this process of returning to God:

Luke 15:11-32

True repentance includes a process according to the teachings of the Master:

Return to himself: Luke 15:17

Make a plan: Luke 15:18

Get up to put it into action: Luke 15:20

Restore the damage: Luke 15:21

Entering the house of the Father: Luke 15:27

Stay at home and live gratefully under the Father's rules: Luke 15:32

When Jesus died for us, he knew that we were going to sin, and that even in our best
day, we need a Savior. When you sin (1 John 3:4), God says, come back, he does not

condemnation says, 'you are bad, and a sinner, go away', conviction says: 'I need to return with the
Father. We have been called not to condemn, but to call the sinner to repentance.

Regret is not a one-time event in life; every moment of the day when
we realize that we have failed, we need to return to the Father, because we want to be
well with Him. (1 John 1:8-9)

If you return to him no matter how far you have gone, he will wash you with his blood, and he will...
receive. The Father sent his Son to bring you back to his arms, and when you return, he puts
a ring on your finger (it gives you the tokens of your inheritance Eph. 1:14), you put on (of the new man, you

substitute for t Gn 22:8; Jn. 1:36) and makes a feast (is preparing a great banquet for t Ap.
19:9).

What is not regret:

Repentance is not sadness over sins or just remorse. The Apostle Paul tells us
teaches that sorrow for the cause of sins is not repentance. 'Because sorrow'
What is according to God produces repentance for salvation, of which there is no need to repent;
but the sorrow of the world produces death” (2 Corinthians 7:10). We can see that sorrow does not
It is not regret, but rather sadness according to God that produces repentance.

You can come and tell me, 'I'm sorry I took the pencil,' and I can say, 'Do you really regret it?'
But you don't return the pencil to me, your apology means nothing," "I forgive you and I cancel the debt,
but you are still responsible for your actions." For reconciliation to happen, it is necessary that
there is repentance, and that includes remorse, but also restitution (return the
pencil). God decided to cancel our debt on the cross, but to receive the benefit of his
forgiveness, it is necessary to turn back to God, this implies believing and living according to His rules
house.

And why do you call me: 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Luke 6:46

Malachi 1:6

A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is my honor? And if
I am the Lord, where is my fear?—says the Lord of hosts to you, priests.

name?

Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father.
the will of my Father who is in heaven.

James 1:22

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Repentance is not sadness over sins or remorse; it is not just a change of

life. Regret is a change of the obstinate will that decides to submit to the
will of God and return to Him. It is a decision to leave behind the things of the world and sin to
put into practice the things of God, in His way, according to His rules. There is no salvation, nor
reconciliation without repentance, this is very important, a gospel that does not preach the
repentance is not biblical
