Understanding Young Christian Identity
Understanding Young Christian Identity
Biblical basis:
Eclesiastés 11:9-10
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear 'identity'?
Personally, I come up with this (showing my identity card). How many of us have one?
identity card? I definitely think that the majority because today they force us to carry it. This document
allows us to learn more about a person: name, address, phone, occupation. With this information
I can start getting to know someone.
and being aware of the reasons that motivate us to study this subject.
Identity: It is the set of circumstances, qualities, or characteristics that determine who and what is a
persona. (In other words, it is one's own attitude) Someone might wonder: Why study this
theme? Is there no other? Of course there is. There are many themes especially for the youth and within
of all this, there is one that I consider important for the following reason:
In these times, the true identity of many young people has degenerated, declined, or deteriorated due to
from the evil that is lived daily in the world, driven by Satan. (Men behaving like
women and women like men discarding the plan that God had for their lives and in this way
they achieve that the enemy wins a battle but not the war.
What you do is fine, but living in a bubble is not a very good example of relationships.
Just think of Jesus, He was always surrounded by people because those people liked to be in His presence.
presence, close to Him, all because they enjoyed His company.
Well, yes, God wants you to be such a young person surrounded by people and for those people...
they can know Him through you, remember that we preach by example.
And when you are in temptations, just think of our best example, which is Jesus, ask yourself:
- Would Jesus go to a party with me?
- Would Jesus drink this beer with me?
- Would Jesus mock his friends?
Well, definitely NO, Jesus would not do that. Young man and young lady, remember that He left us the best example of
identity that could have been.
- The best examples of young people with an identity in God are in the Bible, think first of the 3 friends of
Daniel, three Hebrews in the land of Babylon, did not defile themselves with the king's food, nor did they fall down to worship.
the golden statue that the king had erected (Daniel 1:5-8; 3:4-18)
Another example is that of the young woman from Samaria who was taken as a slave to Syria to the house of Naaman (2nd.
Kings 5:1-3
And a very brave young man was José. In this world, we are surrounded by temptations. Today, young people are
being victims of Satan, they have been caught falling into his traps. We must learn from Joseph, the son of
Jacob, who identified himself as the son of God in the temptation that the devil placed upon him through the woman of
Potiphar (Gen. 39:7); he was unjustly taken to prison, however, there he also proved his identity.
In the Bible, there is a name that had to change its identity just like many of us!!!!!!!
- Jacob usurped his identity... he stole his brother's identity, the Bible says that one day after his sin the
he stayed alone!!!!! AND THE QUESTION IS WHO ARE WE WHEN WE ARE ALONE???????? Who are you
when you do something that no one knows, when you browse the internet on questionable websites, or when
you watch programs or when you look with lust at what you shouldn’t look at… AND WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT
WE ARE UNTIL WE ARE LEFT ALONE!!!!!!
- When one has a wound... God heals it but to do so, many times it makes you hurt, but why does He
You know what will be best for you!!!!!
- The Bible says that Jacob fought with the angel until his blessing was with him... Jacob was limping. What about the angel?
I asked him what his name was???? He replied: Jacob, which means fraud!!!!! AND I WANT YOU TO CHANGE MY
IDENTITY and God changed his name to Israel, which means prince of God.
LIBERATION OF A CAPTIVE
Tears were flowing freely down the face of an old man as he tried to untie the knot of a cord he had.
around the neck, in which there was a small bag hanging (PUT CORD ON THE NECK). The knot was
dirty, and full of dirt. The old man had his head bowed as if carrying a great weight on his back, his body
He was trembling and the fear of the unknown reflected in his eyes. This man was Sampashe, an African chief.
You should not trust in pagan gods," they had told him; but the conflict of centuries of darkness and fear had been
possessed by it. What calamities would befall him if he removed this amulet? Could he not at least keep
this? "No," they told him, if you really believe in love and in the power of Jesus, you must place your trust only in him.
Standing next to the old man, silently and compassionately, smiling to instill him with courage and confidence was the
missionary. Sampashe raised his hands, but the old knot could not be undone, as it had been tied for so long.
years that was completely solid.
Terror seized the heart of Sampashe. He looked at the face of the missionary and then made his first prayer.
life, which was a cry asking for help, mercy, and love. The knot loosened, and as the cord
slipped from the wrinkled neck of the old man, also a heavy burden fell from his heart (TAKE OUT THE CORD OF
NECK). Raising his tear-filled face, Sampashe smiled triumphantly and took the missionary's hand as a sign of
Christian brotherhood.
This amulet that was around the neck of that old man (SHOW THE AMULET) is the false identity that perhaps everyone
we are carrying what is slowly killing and exhausting us, just as that old man trusted in God to be able to
to free ourselves from that cord, we must pray that only He helps us to be able to free ourselves from that false identity that
ties us to this world.
ON THE ROCK
On November 10, 1980, the Royal Neivi, a third-class cruise ship, sank off the coast of Galicia. 172 victims.
As a result of this accident, only 3 people survived and one of them told their story.
José was surrounded by the bodies of people who had died after the accident; his desperation was only
he managed to let fear take over his heart. He swam aimlessly to save his life. The sun burned his skin, the
face and the eyes, the waves had not stopped hitting him with the force they came with. Suddenly he sees a rock in the distance, he swam
toward her despite all the pains he had in his body; when he finally arrived, he climbed on top of the rock feeling a
a little relief but the fear of dying there terrified him. After many hours of waiting, José kept hugging
the rock.
His desperate friends asked him: "Friend, how did you endure for so long, were you not afraid?" And he
he replied: Yes, you can't imagine the fear I had. I thought I wouldn't live to tell the tale today. I trembled a lot but you know it
The only thing that saved me was this rock because while I trembled, this rock remained firm.
Jesus is that solid rock that will hold you up, no matter if you are a shipwrecked person in the waters of the world or if your identity
Navigating through those waters, all God wants is for you to trust in Him and place your life on the solid rock.
What is Christ? Only He can help you maintain your identity firm amidst storms.
CALL
- GOD WANTS TO CHANGE YOUR IDENTITY AND MAKE YOU A PRINCE, A CONQUEROR IN THE NAME
OF CHRIST AS HE DID WITH JACOB
YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO FIGHT YOUR BATTLE WITH HIM, BY HIS SIDE.
Ask yourself, Who am I? Well, I am a child of God.
Where am I going? To the heavenly homeland that Christ is preparing for me.
- HOW MANY WANT TO MEET GOD AND FIGHT WITH HIM... AND LET GOD CHANGE YOU
OF IDENTITY... AND YOU ARE A DIFFERENT PERSON IN THE NAME OF GOD... HE KNOWS
OUR LIFE AND KNOWS WHAT WE NEED!!!!!!
Amen, God bless your life and may He strengthen your identity in that rock which is Him.
