C – V – C means consonant – vowel – consonant.
A C – V – C word is a three-letter word that follows the
spelling pattern of a consonant – vowel – consonant.
Remember, vowels are the letters A, E, I, O, U and
consonants are all the other letters.

Examples:
Consonant – Vowel – Consonant = CVC
1. C – A – R = CAR
2. P – I – N = PIN
3. B – E – T = VAT
4. T – O – Y = TOY
5. B – U – S = BUS

Vowels are always at the middle of the word.


Example CVC words: Let’s read and spell!
