Introduction
This collection critically explores my negotiating conduct in the light of my upbringing and
occupation, with a particular emphasis on the abilities I have acquired. By studying particular
negotiating circumstances, I will reflect upon my abilities as a negotiator, highlighting significant
skills that I have utilized through my working life and honed in Assignment 1. These qualities,
paying attention, effective interaction, and empathy, have been critical in molding my strategy
and attaining success.

Self-Awareness as a Negotiator
Growing raised in a mainly collectivist society, such as Sri Lanka, had a big impact on my
negotiating approach. The cultural focus on balance, regard for seniors, and sustaining
connections has shaped my strategy to dispute settlement. I promote building trust and
confidence, fostering a setting favorable to genuine interaction.

Three major negotiating abilities that have stood out in the process are active listening, efficient
interaction, and emotional intelligence, which I already recognized in Assignment 1 and strive to
improve. These culturally ingrained abilities have given me the capacity to appreciate other
people's points of view and find consensus. For example, my listening abilities and capacity to
relate came in handy during a recent Dialog discussion with a customer, when concentrating on
their issues resulted in a mutually beneficial conclusion.

In this case, close listening enabled me to identify core requirements, whilst excellent
communication guaranteed that the negotiating conditions were clear. Another important talent is
emotional intelligence, which allows me to handle my own emotions as well as those of others,
resulting in a more productive workplace.

Contextualizing Negotiation Situations

One notable event while my time at Dialog was arranging a collaboration with a local startup.
The dialogue was marked by cultural conflicts among the start-up's distinctive, rapid thinking
and Dialog's streamlined, administrative approach. My ability to communicate effectively was
crucial in bridging cultural divides. I developed confidence and maintained the connection by
being transparent in expressing Dialog's stance and ambitions.

In this scenario, my emotional intelligence helped me negotiate the discussions politely. Even
amid disagreements, I stayed cool and flexible, this contributed to a sense of friendship.

Furthermore, my ability to actively listen enabled me to better grasp the start-up's aims and solve
their problems, resulting in a fruitful cooperation. These qualities, derived from my cultural
focus on teamwork and reverence, facilitated an easy and fruitful negotiating process.

Alternative Choices and Actions

During my negotiating events, I have constantly improved my capacity to adjust while making
sound judgments. For example, when dealing with a local start-up, I may foresee obstacles by
using the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement framework. By planning for options, I
entered the discussion with more trust, understanding I had viable choices.

Active listening plus emotional intelligence enabled me get through challenging circumstances,
especially when confronted with unforeseen inquiries or responses. By staying calm and
empathic, I've been able to defuse emotions and provide ideas that met both sides' needs. This
capacity to uncover options while remaining focused on common goals exemplifies how these
key talents may be used to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

The third skill, excellent communication, enabled me to properly explain these alternate options,
so all parties remained on the exact same level and no misunderstandings hampered the
procedure.

Conclusion
Based on my negotiating experience, I understand that my primary talents are active listening,
good communication, plus emotional intelligence. These abilities have allowed me to establish
trust, negotiate cultural disparities, and sustain good working connections. My culture, which
values harmony and teamwork, has honed these skills, enabling me to enter discussions with
compassion and a focus on win-win solutions.

To further improve my negotiating abilities, I intend to seek out more challenging and varied
negotiations circumstances in which I can demonstrate flexibility. By improving these skills and
continually using major negotiating concepts like as BATNA, I hope to become a stronger and
better negotiator capable of constantly achieving favorable results and sustaining lasting
relationships.
