Personal Statement for Masters in Business Management

The world of business has always intrigued me. Having the opportunity to work in a private
and public sector has opened my eyes to the world of business management. Working in
these sectors influenced my decision to start my own business of fashion and catering
services and which influenced my decision to pursue a master’s degree in business
Management for career and personal development.

I studied Business Education as my first degree, which has provided me with the
understanding of investigating, analyzing, and understanding social problems and existing
social norms and values. The course has also helped me to develop my analytical thinking,
capabilities and identifying marketing opportunities and this I have ensured impacted in the
organization where I work in continually contributing my quota to improving the system that
I find myself. Having worked in both formal and informal sector, I have experienced
how different organizations operate, this has given me different approach to
business environment and this experience I have incorporate into running my
private.

I intend to specialize in Entrepreneurship because I want to become familiar with real


world issues relevant to entrepreneurs. A master's degree in Business Management
will provide me with theoretical understanding, in depth idea of practical approaches
in aiding managerial decision-making and research skill to enable me to develop key
managerial skills such as learning leadership and management skills. It is my goal to
manage a company more intelligently and efficiently. Business operations are
constantly changing and evolving, hence new innovative ways of managing and
operating business needs to be acquired and learnt.

I have chosen to study at University of Hull because upon my research, I realized the school
is well equipped, facilities and laboratories are well placed with combination of high-quality
teaching with world class research and not forgetting the research opportunities available at
the institution. I realized the study opportunities in terms of learning. The department is rated
high in the national student survey in providing excellent academic degrees. The course
modules are very specific, practical and they are going to be delivered by lecturers
with research expertise, consulting as well as practitioners with hands-on knowledge.
I believe that your university will be the best institution to take my education to the
next level and enable me to compete effectively.
As a prospective student of the institution, I intend to study hard, gain knowledge
and explore all that University of Hull has to offer. It will be an honor to be granted
an opportunity at your reputable citadel of learning and I also look forward to this
experience as this will support my personal development and enlighten my career
at the business world.
