1. Introduction:
This Method Statement describes in detail all the scope of work involved in
modification of existing kitchen works.
2. Objective:
The objective of this method statement is to understand the job and step
by step procedures of the execution of the task along with safety measures,
which are mandatory to avoid any kind of fatal injuries/accidents to a
person or any destruction to any device, machinery, equipment, or property
during the demolition and installation of the new feature in the kitchen.
The list of mandatory equipment is also described in this method
statement.
3. Scope of Work:
• Demolition and cart away debris for existing kitchen cabinets to
accommodate new layout, allow for protection of exiting flooring.
• Removal of existing floor tiles
• Repair of exiting screed upon removal of existing floor tiles
• Supply and apply of Mapei waterproofing including surface
preparation
• Installation of client supplied porcelains floor tile with cementitious
glue and grout.
• Installation of tiles skirting
• Prepare existing walls and supply and apply 2 coats of Fenomastic
emulsion paint (Jotun)
• Ceiling modification after removal of existing kitchen including
repainting of full kitchen ceiling.
• Relocation of existing kitchen extract including ducting works
• Remove and refix existing kitchen tap
• Relocation of drain and water supply point for dish washer/washing
machine.
• Relocation of existing power socket including wiring
• Relocation of existing water heater switch
• Cancel existing power and date sockets
• Allow for cutting making good

5 RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Supervisor
• The carrying out of work and the proper distribution of all the available
resources in coordination with the Site Engineer daily.
• Daily reports of the works are achieved and coordinated for future
planning with the Site Engineer.
• Meeting with any type of unforeseen incident or requirement and
reporting the same to the Site Engineer immediately.
• Should acquire any necessary civil works clearances and coordination.
• Control, supervise and record toolbox meetings.
• Ensure that all HSE requirements are met and implemented while
executing the works.
Site Worker
• Maintenance of all materials associated with fire protection systems
and in line with Dubai Municipality standard
• Following approved checklists for service and maintenance of the
assets.
• Handling of the site materials, accessories, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine
when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Maintaining circuits and sensors, following wiring and system
specifications.
• Performing other related activities as instructed by the Superior.
HSE Officer
• The site is maintained in a clean and tidy manner.
• Ensure that only trained persons shall operate power tools.
• Ensure all concerned personals shall use PPE and all other items as
required.
• Ensure high risk elevated areas are provided are barricades, tape, safety
nets and provided with ladders.
• Ensure service area/inspection area openings are provided with
barricades, tape, and safety nets.
• Always ensure safe access to site work.

8. Methodology
• The work shall be carried out using proper permit to work and
necessary isolation shall be carried out before any demolition start by
coordinating with main contractor MEP Engineer.
• Ensure Protection of other areas in the apartment before proceeding
with the works
• Demolition of the existing kitchen will be carried out under the
supervision of the site Supervisor.
• Dismantling of Kitchen Cabinets & Counters.
• Demolition of the floor tiles using electric jack hammer and chipping
guns
• Remove all the waste and existing floor tiles from the workplace
(kitchen)
• Chasing in the walls for relocation of MEP points as per approved
layout.
• Installation of Pex pipes, drainage pipes & Electrical conduits and
wiring
• Filling and repair of the wall chasings with mortar covered with Mesh
• Prepare the site for screeding and apply screed wherever required
• Application of waterproofing material post screeding
• After proper curing time, start installation of floor tiles
• Installation of MEP items on the ceiling.
• Surface preparation of walls and ceiling prior to painting
• Application of paint on ceilings and walls.
• Clean the area and apply grouting for tiles.
• Installation of the new features of MEP, kitchen cabinets and Kitchen
appliances.
• Final inspection shall be carried out after completion of all civil and
MEP work.
9. Health, Safety and Environment:
• The relevant permit needs to be obtained before starting the work
• Safety toolbox meetings to be carried out before work
• Toolbox talks to be convened & attended by all personnel assigned
to do the task.
• Hazard analysis to be done.
• Designated Safety personnel will ensure that all above is carried out
& any other statutory requirements are accomplished with before
any work takes
• Housekeeping is must at the end of the shift
PPE Requirements
As a minimum, the following PPE should be used by staff/labours:
• Hard hat
• Safety shoe
• Safety goggles
• Hand gloves
• High visibilities vest
• Dust mask & Safety harness
