- Focus on the First 1000 Days of a Child’s Life

Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF):

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in partnership with the World Economic
Forum (WEF), has launched the national public-private collaboration platform, ‘India Skills Accelerator’.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy to
enhance gig and logistics employment opportunities through the National Career Service (NCS) Portal.

- Why in News Again • The Ministry of Labour & Employment has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Rapido to enhance logistics employment opportunities via the NCS
portal and create over 50 lakh livelihoods in the next 1-2 years.

The government is enhancing public service delivery through the Sevottam framework, focusing on
grievance redressal mechanisms.

- Centralized Public Grievances Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS): To provide an effective
and efficient platform for redressal of public grievances with a focus on citizen engagement.
- Time Limit for Grievance Redressal: 21 days.

Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA): CARA launched a comprehensive child identification exercise,
categorizing children under 5 groups – Orphan, Abandoned, Surrendered, Children with No Visitation, and
Children with Unfit Guardians.

- Aimed to bring more children into the legal adoption framework, ensuring their right to a secure
and supportive home.
- CARINGS (Child Adoption Resource Information and Guidance System) Portal

Hamari Parampara Hamari Virasat 2025

- Envisioned and supported by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.


- Objective: To preserve tribal heritage, including folk songs, festivals, and worship practices integral
to traditional governance systems of Scheduled Tribes.

15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting (AMM): took place in Kathmandu, Nepal.
- 15th BRICS AMM theme: “Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperation,
Innovation, and Equitable Trade among BRICS Countries.”
- BRICS Land Restoration Partnership was launched as a key initiative to address critical issues such as
land degradation, desertification, and the loss of soil fertility.

6th BIMSTEC Summit – Thailand

- Theme: "BIMSTEC: Prosperous, Resilient and Open"


- India proposed a 21-point Action Plan
- Bangladesh assumed the chairmanship of the BIMSTEC for the next 2 years from Thailand.

India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) : Also known as the Cotton Road.

- Aim: To create an integrated trade and logistics network connecting India, the Middle East, and
Europe through a dual-corridor system:

International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) : India has committed to providing Rs 150 crore for the development of
the IBCA’s infrastructure and operational expenses over five years (2023-2028).

E-shram portal:

- Objective: To provide targeted welfare schemes and benefits to improve the socio economic
conditions of unorganised workers. Age Limit: 16 and 59 years.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched The Bharat Project to empower one million
entrepreneurs from Tier 2, Tier 3, and rural India.

- The Bharat Project is a national initiative launched by YourStory with the backing of the Government
of India.
- Tagline for the initiative is: "Hokar Nidar... ShuruKar" (Start bold. Start now. Start anywhere. But
start.)

54th meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC)

- The investment cap for foreign investors in government securities remains at 6%, for state
government securities at 2%, and for corporate bonds at 15%.
- Corporate bonds: The FPI limit is set at ₹8.22 trillion for April-September and ₹8.80 trillion for
October-Mar
- For few specific categories of transaction in UPI like Capital Markets, Collections, Insurance, Foreign
Inward Remittances the transaction limit is up to 2 lakh and for Initial Public Offering and Retail
Direct Scheme the limit is up to Rs 5 lakh per transaction.

The Income Tax Department has announced that luxury goods priced above Rs 10 lakh will now attract a 1%
Tax Collected at Source (TCS) starting from April 22, 2025.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Test Kits for Cervical Cancer Screening

- The target is to screen 70% of eligible women by 2030.


- Nafithromycin, India’s first indigenous antibiotic, was highlighted.

National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign

- To eliminate measles and rubella by 2026, two doses of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine are
provided to children at 9-12 months and 16-24 months of age.

National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP)

- recently concluded 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.


- In 2022, Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched.
- Objective: To reduce and eliminate TB in India by 2025.
- NIKSHAY Poshan: o Scheme rolled out from 2018. o Rs. 1000/- per month given to every TB patient
through DBT for duration of treatment.

India announced its first-ever space biology experiments aboard the International Space Station (ISS) to
study the sustainability of Human life in Space under the BioE3 Biotechnology Policy.

78th World Health Assembly (WHA): The 78th WHA took place in Geneva under the theme “One World for
Health.”

Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions: Theme: “Make visible the invisible: Sound
management of chemicals and wastes.”

- Basel Convention (1989) : transboundary movement of hazardous wastes and their disposal
- Rotterdam Convention (1998): responsible management of chemicals and wastes.
- Stockholm Convention (2001): eliminate the production, use, and release of persistent organic
pollutants (POPs) to protect human health

16th Census of Asiatic Lions in Gujarat: confirmed the presence of 891 Asiatic lions across 11 districts.

India’s Participation in the 1st Sagarmatha Sambaad in Nepal: theme “Climate Change, Mountains, and the
Future of Humanity.”

- first Snow Leopard Population Assessment, revealing 718 snow leopards in India
- Snow Leopard is declared State animal of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.

Bhavishya Platform: It is an online system designed to streamline the pension sanction and payment
process for retiring central government employees.

Centralized Public Grievances Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS): Time Limit for Grievance
Redressal: 21 days.

World Bank Land Conference 2025: Theme: ‘Securing Land Tenure and Access for Climate Action’.

- India showcased its rural governance models, particularly the Gram Manchitra platform.
- India acted as a Country Champion

New Criminal Laws:

- PM highlighted 5 pillars of criminal justice system: Police, Jail, Judiciary, Prosecution and Forensics.
- Chandigarh- 1st administrative unit where 100% implementation of the 3 laws has been done.
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI): A person of Indian origin registered under the Citizenship Act, 1955, who is
not a citizen of Pak or Ban and who or whose ancestors were Indian citizens on or after January 26, 1950.

10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog: Theme: “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047”

- Prime Minister as Chairperson, Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, Union Ministers as Ex-officio
Members and Special Invitees, Vice Chairman and Members of NITI Aayog, was established in 2015
by the Cabinet Secretariat.
- The government reconstituted the NITI Aayog in 2024 with 4 full-time members and 15 Union
Ministers.

Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 Portal: aiming to empower Panchayats with data-backed, evidence-
based planning and governance. 9 thematic areas covered under PAI 2.0

India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) : India and the UK have the ambitious target of USD 100 billion
bilateral trade by 2030

India and Chile signed the Terms of Reference (ToR), to initiate negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic
Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

India’s Clean Energy Achievements Presented:

- 475 GW electricity capacity in 2025; target of 900 GW by 2032.


- Third-largest producer of solar and wind energy globally.
- Achieved 20% ethanol blending in petrol.
- Targeting 100 GW nuclear energy capacity by 2047.

BRICS:

- Founding countries of BRIC: Brazil, Russia, India, and China.


- In 2024, four new members- Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
- In 2025, Indonesia was admitted as a full member of the BRICS.
- New Development Bank (NDB), established by BRICS nations, officially admitted Algeria as a new
member.
- Vietnam became the 10th BRICS Partner Country, following the creation of this category at the 2024
BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia.

India assumed the Chairmanship of the APO for the 2025–26 term

- Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan


- India is a founding member.
- 15th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting : India’s Proposals and Initiatives: o Proposed “30 for 30”,
introducing 30 trade reform suggestions for World Trade Organization’s (WTO’s) 30th anniversary.
- Theme: “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance”

India’s Economic Growth Outlook:

- The IMF projects India to become the world’s 3rd largest GDP by 2027.
- India holds the 4th largest foreign exchange reserves in the world.

Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution launched 3 major digital initiatives —
- Depot Darpan Portal: A digital self-assessment and monitoring portal for depots of Food
Corporation of India (FCI) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC)
- Anna Mitra: A mobile app for Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers, District Food and Supply Offices (DFSO
officers), and Food Inspectors. , and
- Anna Sahayata: A grievance redressal platform for PM-GKAY beneficiaries.
- Aims to modernize and enhance efficiency in India's Public Distribution System (PDS).

Annual GDP Estimates • Released by: National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme
Implementation (MoSPI). • Real GDP growth: 6.5% o ₹187.97 lakh crore (at constant 2011–12 prices) •
Nominal GDP growth: 9.8% o ₹330.68 lakh crore (at current prices) • Real GVA (Gross Value Added) growth:
6.4% • Nominal GVA growth: 9.5%

India recorded a total FDI inflow of USD 81.04 billion in FY 2024–25, which is a 14% increase over the
previous fiscal year's USD 71.28 billion. Maharashtra received the highest share of FDI equity inflow

Government e Marketplace (GeM): GeM celebrated its 8th Incorporation Day.

- Uttar Pradesh became the first state in India to fully integrate the GeM platform

India’s Export in 2024-25:

- India's total exports have reached a record high of $824.9 billion in 2024-25
- Services exports reached $387.5 billion in 2024-25.
- Merchandise exports, excluding petroleum products, also hit a record $374.1 billion.

India's Elimination of Trachoma Recognized by WHO: in 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) began in
Geneva, under the theme “One World for Health.”

- A contagious bacterial infection of the eye caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, leading to blindness if
untreated; often linked to poor hygiene and sanitation.

National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)

- Justice Surya Kant appointed as the Executive Chairman of the NALSA, effective May 14, 2025.
- As per convention, the post is occupied by second senior-most judge of the Supreme Court of India.
- To provide free Legal Services to the weaker sections of society and to organize Lok Adalats for
amicable settlement of disputes.

ITR-1 (Sahaj): For residents with total annual income up to Rs 50 lakh from salary, one house property,
other sources (interest), and agricultural income up to Rs 5,000.

ITR-4 (Sugam): For individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), and firms (other than LLPs) with total
annual income up to Rs 50 lakh from business or profession.

World Sickle Cell Day: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)

- Bhagwan Birsa Munda Prize announced by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs


- Theme of World Sickle Cell Day 2025: Global Action, Local Impact: Empowering Communities for
Effective Self-Advocacy’.
- India has the largest tribal population density globally, with 8.6%, or 67.8 million people.
- Target: To eliminate sickle cell disease as a public health problem in India before 2047.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA): 2020, 5th Anniversary in April 2025

- International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June through nationwide
awareness events under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
- Theme for this year: "Break the cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime".

Project Elephant:

- World Elephant Day to be celebrated on August 12, 2025, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
- Conservation strategy development for Ripu-Chirang Elephant Reserve (Assam)

Ramsar Sites:

- Khichan (Phalodi) and Menar (Udaipur), both located in Rajasthan, were added as Ramsar Sites just
before World Environment Day (5 June 2025)
- This brings India's total Ramsar Site count to 91.
- theme for World Wetlands Day was ‘Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future’.

MY Bharat 2.0 Platform: will serve as a single-window digital ecosystem for youth empowerment aligned
with the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports

- Objective: Empower Indian youth with direction, purpose, and opportunity

Ministry of Women and Child Development organized the first National Consultation on Gender Budgeting
and launched the 'Gender Budgeting Knowledge Hub' portal.

- The Gender Budget for FY 2025–26 is ₹4.49 lakh crore,

NAVYA – A Pilot Initiative for Skilling Adolescent Girls

- o Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) & Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
- Age Group: 16–18 years, min class 10th

India's Social Protection Coverage:

- India now ranks second globally in terms of social protection coverage by number of beneficiaries,
with over 94 crore citizens covered under at least one benefit.
- India's social protection coverage has expanded from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% in 2025, marking a 45
percentage point increase, the fastest expansion globally in this domain.
Adi Karmyogi Beta Version:

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched the Adi Karmyogi Beta Version, during the National Conference “Adi
Anveshan”. flagship programme aimed at capacity building of around 20 lakh stakeholders, targeting
outreach to 1 lakh tribal villages and habitations.

National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA):

- Recently for the Puducherry Legislative Assembly.


- Bihar Legislative Council became the first House in the country to transit to NeVA platform
completely in 2021.

Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC)

- recommended by the Raghuram Rajan Committee in 2008.


- Union Finance Minister is the Chairperson.
- The FSDC Sub-Committee, which meets more frequently, is chaired by the Governor of the Reserve
Bank of India (RBI).

e-Nivaran:

- A Unified Grievance Management System to track taxpayer grievances and ensure early redressal of
their complaints. Developed by: Income Tax department in 2016
- Time limit for Redressal: 30 days after the complaint has been received.

Monetary Policy Meeting of RBI:

- On June 6, 2025, the RBI announced a 100 basis point cut in the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) — from
4% to 3%.

GeM (Government e-Marketplace) Portal:

>> financial thresholds under General Financial Rules (GFR) were revised:

- Direct Purchase limit: ₹2 lakh (up from ₹1 lakh)


- Departmental committee purchase: ₹2–25 lakh (up from ₹1–10 lakh)
- Limited tender enquiries: ₹1 crore (up from ₹50 lakh)
- Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the top contributor to public procurement via the GeM FY 2024–25.

Special Economic Zones (SEZs):

- Now, the minimum land requirement for SEZs exclusively set up for these sectors has been reduced
from 50 hectares to just 10 hectares.
- Micron and Aequs Group have already received approval to set up SEZs in Sanand (Gujarat) and
Dharwad (Karnataka), respectively. For Semiconductors

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day 2025 was commemorated on 27th June.

- Theme for 2025: "Enhancing the role of MSMEs as drivers of Sustainable Growth and Innovation".
Yashasvini Campaign • Launched in 2024 • A step towards gender parity by 2029 on the Udyam and Udyam
Assist (UA) portals, promoting formalisation, mentoring, and e-commerce adoption for women
entrepreneurs.

Key highlights of the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES), 2023–24

- Average Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (MPCE) increased: Rural: ₹4,122 (₹4,247 including free
goods received through social welfare programs) o Urban: ₹6,996 (₹7,078 including free goods)
- Gini coefficient (consumption inequality) in 2023-24: Rural: 0.237 | Urban: 0.284

Population Census 2027:

- will be conducted in two phases, India’s first digital Census, and also the first post-independence
Census to include caste enumeration.
- carried out under the Census Act, 1948 and Census Rules, 1990.

Gig Workforce in India by 2047:

A study by the VV Giri National Labour Institute projects that India's gig workforce may reach 6.2 crore by
2047, forming 15% of the non-agricultural workforce.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has raised the auto-settlement limit for advance claims
from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh.

- Process Time: Within three working days

The UN General Assembly elected 5 countries, Bahrain, Colombia, the DRC, Latvia, and Liberia, to serve as
non-permanent members of the UNSC. Latvia will be serving on the UNSC for the first time.

- UNSC comprises: o 5 permanent members with veto power (China, France, Russia, the UK, and the
USA). o 10 non-permanent members, elected for staggered 2-year terms.

India has been elected to the ECOSOC for the term 2026–28, in the Asia-Pacific States category.

- This will be at least the 18th term for India on the council, having last completed a four-term run
from 2008 to 2020.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has announced that the base years for
GDP, CPI, and IIP will be updated starting from early 2026.

The FASTag-based annual pass is priced at ₹3,000 and is valid for one year or 200 highway trips, whichever
comes first.

Nicaragua formally became the 101st WTO member to accept the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies,
moving the Agreement closer to its official entry into force.
