Catalog Description
Studying plant and animal physiology as part of a bachelor's degree can be both fascinating and
foundational for understanding how living organisms function. The students will learn how plants
convert light energy into chemical energy (glucose) and oxygen and will also learn about the
fundamentals of plant-water relationship. In the animal physiology domain students will learn how
animals acquire nutrients from food. They will also learn about the basics of cardiovascular system,
the physiology of muscle contraction and how animals coordinate responses to stimuli through
nervous impulses.

Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to provide the knowledge about plant & animal physiology. This
course will provide a robust foundation in biological sciences and the knowledge can be utilized for
understanding real-world applications and current research in plant and animal physiology.

Course Outcomes (COs):

On completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Recall fundamental plant and animal physiology processes.
2. Identify the cellular mechanisms involved in the growth, development, and function of plants
and animals.
3. Illustrate the biochemical processes underlying the physiological functions in both plants and
animals.
4. Describe the process of energy acquisition, storage, and utilization processes in plants and
animals, including photosynthesis, circulation, and digestion
5. Correlate the structure of cells, tissues, organs, and systems with their physiological functions
in both plants and animals.
6. Analyse physiological processes and solve problems related to plant and animal physiology.
