Grill Project

This document describes the manufacturing process of a grill oven for barbecues. The students analyzed each step of the process, including measuring and cutting materials, welding, sanding, painting, and assembly. The process requires materials such as steel rods, metal sheets, and welding tools. The objective was to understand the costs and procedures involved in the manufacturing of barbecue grills.

Introduction

The grill or barbecue is an iron utensil shaped like a grid that is placed above the
fire and on top of it what is to be cooked or roasted. It is placed at a safe distance
from the fire or embers. Foods absorb heat slowly, and once that
the meats are almost ready, the grill is brought a little closer to the heat and this way it is achieved that the
the outer part of the meats turns a more golden color, giving it a better
presentation, in addition to becoming crispy and removing possible residual fats from the meat.

It is said that the grill was developed when placing a fence that surrounded a lavish

the manufacturer the leftover iron and, in revenge, the blacksmith would have used the leftover plow as
support for cooking meat in front of the castle. The aroma would have driven the baron crazy to the point
who agreed to disburse the two ducats that he owed, for which he obtained the plow-grill.

Towards the end of the 19th century in the surroundings of the Río de la Plata, iron grilles were used.

the use of this tool to roast the meats that were left over from the slaughtered animals.

Methodology

Product description
Our product to manufacture is a special black charcoal grill for high temperatures.
which has a stainless steel grill on its sides and contains two supports
and a lower support

Protection
As in any job, skilled welding workers must follow
specific safety regulations. Likewise, the people who organize this
personal, have the duty to inform and provide the worker with all the means that
they are precise.

The risks we take in welding are:

Explosions
Fire due to hyperventilation with oxygen
Electrocution by electrical contact
Risks derived from radiation
Inhalation of toxic fumes
Incandescent particles
High temperatures

In this regard, the personal protective equipment of a worker who proceeds to

soldering will include:

Hat
Respiratory mask for metal fumes

Welding Mask

Leather gloves

The Leather Apron

Safety Shoes

Materials and Tools

For the construction of our grill oven for barbecues, we will need the
the following materials and tools shown below
6.4 meters or 640 cm of angle iron for the grill structure and legs
6 meters or 600 cm of stainless steel rod No. 6, for the grill rods
160 cm of smooth #4 iron rod, for the base of the utensils
Metal sheet of 100 x 160 cm
Metal sheet of 40 x 140 cm
Metal sheet of 40 x 100 cm
100 x 100 cm metal plate
Iron cutting machine
Square (called corner)
Welder (with their corresponding protections)
Welding machine
Electrodes for welding iron rods
Electrodes for welding stainless steel
Polisher
Press
Hammer

Processes for manufacturing

It will consist of 4 processes that will be divided as follows:
. First Process: Measure and Cut
. Second Process: Welding and Sanding
. Third Process: Painting
. Fourth Process: Assemble and Install the material

First Process: Measure and Cut

2 sheets of metal measuring 50 x 80 cm will be cut (bottom part and for utensils below)
the drawer
2. Two metal plates measuring 20x70 cm will be cut (Side part 1)
2 metal sheets of 20x50 cm will be cut (Side part 2)
2 metal sheets of 50x50 cm will be cut (side sheets to place
utensils)
4 metal rods of 40cm will be cut (Support for the side plates of
utensils
12 stainless steel rods 50x6mm will be cut.
2 stainless steel rods measuring 70x6mm will be cut.
8. Four strips of right angle measuring 100 cm in length and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm will be cut (Legs
from the oven)

9. Two right angle strips measuring 70 cm long and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm will be cut (Base
from the oven)

10. Two right-angle strips of 50 cm long and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm will be cut (Base
from the oven

Second Process: Welding, Grinding

Weld the 2 right angle strips 70 cm long and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm (Base
from the oven) with the 2 right angle strips measuring 50 cm long and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm
(Oven base) on each edge
2. Weld the 4 right-angle strips of 100 cm long and 30 x 30 x 3.0 mm (Legs
from the oven) to the 2 strips of right angle of 70 cm and to the 2 strips of right angle
of 50 cm
Weld 2 of the 4 rods of 40cm to one of the plates of 50x50
4. Weld the 2 remaining rods of the 4 rods of 40cm to the other plate of
50x50cm in the 40 cm of the sheet
5. Weld the two rods to two of the right angle strips and in turn weld the
iron the two strips so that the 50x50cm plate and the rods are straight
forming an angle with the iron
Weld 2 of the 12 stainless steel rods 50x6mm to each edge with the 2
stainless steel rods 70x6mm
7. Weld the metal plate of 50 x 80 (Bottom part) to the edge of the 2 plates.
of 20x70 (Side part 1) and also at the edges of the 2 sheets of
20x50 (Side part 2) until a symmetrical rectangular box is formed all the

8. Grind the welded parts, with the intention of removing black residue.
that remain at the time of welding in all welded parts
9. Weld the box with all the plates already welded and finished to the surface
from the legs that will serve as the base for the oven

10. Grind the last welds made when joining the box with the base.

Third Process: Painting

1. Paint the entire grill assembly with black spray paint

Fourth Process: Assemble and Install the material

Place the stainless steel mesh in the welded and painted drawer.
