1.

(upcoming election)

Rahim: Have you noticed how everyone is talking about the upcoming
election?

Karim: Yes, the atmosphere is getting very lively. Posters, rallies, and
debates are everywhere.

Rahim: True. I think this time the young voters will play a big role.

Karim: Absolutely. Many of them are concerned about education, jobs, and
climate issues.

Rahim: Do you already know whom you are going to vote for?

Karim: Not yet. I want to listen carefully to each party’s manifesto before
deciding.

Rahim: That’s the best approach. Voting is our right and responsibility, so
we should be thoughtful.

Karim: Exactly. If every citizen votes wisely, the election will strengthen
democracy.

Rahim: Let’s hope this election will be peaceful and fair.

Karim: Inshallah, it will. And we will all contribute by voting honestly.

2. (Job interview)

Rahim: (nervously) Hey Karim, are you ready for the interview today?

Karim: (sighs) Honestly, not really. I’ve been practicing answers, but I still
feel butterflies in my stomach. What about you?

Rahim: Same here. I read about the company last night and tried to
prepare, but I keep thinking, What if they ask something I don’t know?

Karim: Don’t worry. It’s normal not to know everything. Just be confident
and show that you’re willing to learn.

Rahim: That’s true. I guess they care about attitude as much as

knowledge.

Karim: Exactly. And remember, we’ve both worked hard for this. We just
need to show them who we are.

Rahim: You’re right. Let’s promise one thing—no matter what happens,
we’ll keep supporting each other.
Karim: Deal! (smiles) Now let’s go in there and give it our best shot.

3. (Natural calamities)

Rahim: Hi Karim! Did you read today’s newspaper? It was full of reports
about the recent floods in the northern part of Bangladesh.

Karim: Yes, I did. Floods are so common in our country. Every year
thousands of people suffer.

Rahim: True. Bangladesh is a land of rivers, so flooding is natural. But

apart from floods, we also face cyclones, river erosion, and droughts.

Karim: Exactly. Cyclones in the coastal areas cause huge loss of lives and
property. Remember Cyclone Sidr and Cyclone Amphan? They damaged
so many villages.

Rahim: Yes, those were devastating. And river erosion is another serious
problem. People lose their homes and land overnight.

Karim: You’re right. Natural calamities not only destroy houses and crops
but also spread diseases. The poor suffer the most.

Rahim: But nowadays, the government and NGOs are taking steps. They
build cyclone shelters, provide relief, and spread awareness.

Karim: That’s true. If we all stay alert and work together, we can reduce
the damage caused by these disasters.

Rahim: Well said. Natural calamities may be unavoidable, but proper

preparation can save many lives.

Karim: Absolutely. Let’s hope for a safer future for Bangladesh.

4. (Dowry system)

Rafiq: Hi, Selim! Have you heard about the news yesterday? A girl was
tortured because her family could not give enough dowry.

Selim: Yes, I read it. The dowry system is really a curse in our society.
Rafiq: Absolutely. It destroys peace in family life. Many girls suffer silently
because of this evil practice.

Selim: And sometimes it even leads to divorce or suicide. Families become

poor by giving dowry, too.

Rafiq: True. Instead of valuing education and character, people only think
about money and wealth.

Selim: That’s why we must raise awareness. Education and strict laws can
help remove dowry from society.

Rafiq: Well said. We, the young generation, should take a stand against it.

Selim: Yes, if everyone refuses dowry, then one day this social curse will
end.

5. (Road accident)

Nayeem: Hi Arif! Did you hear about the terrible road accident on the
highway yesterday?

Arif: Yes, I did. It was really tragic. So many people were injured, and some
even lost their lives.

Nayeem: Road accidents are becoming very common in our country

nowadays.

Arif: That’s true. Most of the time, accidents happen because of reckless
driving, over-speeding, and not following traffic rules.

Nayeem: You’re right. Sometimes drivers are careless, and sometimes

pedestrians also cross roads carelessly.

Arif: Another reason is the poor condition of many roads and vehicles.

Nayeem: Yes, and overcrowded buses also cause accidents.

Arif: To prevent accidents, drivers should be more careful, and the

government should strictly enforce traffic rules.

Nayeem: Exactly. Awareness among people is also necessary. If everyone

becomes responsible, accidents will decrease.
Arif: Let’s hope people will be more cautious in the future. Road safety is
important for all.

6. (Global warming)

Sadia: Hi Rafi! Have you noticed how hot the weather has become these
days?

Rafi: Yes, Sadia. It’s because of global warming. The temperature of the
earth is increasing every year.

Sadia: That’s true. Global warming happens mainly due to the excessive
use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and pollution.

Rafi: Exactly. As a result, glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and
natural disasters like floods and cyclones are increasing.

Sadia: It also affects agriculture and health. Many people suffer from heat
strokes and new diseases.

Rafi: You’re right. To reduce global warming, we must plant more trees,
use renewable energy, and avoid unnecessary use of cars and plastics.

Sadia: Yes, awareness is very important. If everyone takes small steps, we

can make a big difference.

Rafi: Absolutely. Protecting our environment is the duty of all.

Sadia: Let’s promise to do our part for a greener and safer world.

7. (Future career)

Asif: Hi Rony! Have you thought about what you want to be in the future?

Rony: Yes, I want to be a doctor. My dream is to serve the sick and poor
people of our country. What about you?

Asif: That’s wonderful! I want to be an engineer. I’m very interested in

building new things and working with technology.

Rony: Great choice! Engineers play a big role in developing the country’s
roads, bridges, and industries.
Asif: And doctors save lives, which is also very important. Both careers are
noble in their own ways.

Rony: Exactly. If we work hard, we can achieve our goals and help our
society.

Asif: Yes, let’s study sincerely and make our dreams come true.

8. (Town life and village life)

Rahim: Hello Karim! Tell me, which life do you like more—town life or
village life?

Karim: Honestly, I prefer village life. It’s calm, peaceful, and full of natural
beauty. What about you?

Rahim: I like town life. The town offers better schools, colleges, hospitals,
and job opportunities.

Karim: That’s true, but villages have fresh air, open fields, and no traffic
jams. Life is healthier there.

Rahim: Yes, but in towns we enjoy electricity, internet, shopping centers,

and good transport facilities.

Karim: Still, village people live close to each other with love and unity,
while town life often feels busy and lonely.

Rahim: I agree, village life has its charm. But for career and modern
facilities, town life is more suitable.

Karim: And for peace and happiness, village life is better.

Rahim: Maybe both have advantages and disadvantages. It depends on

personal choice.

Karim: Exactly. Whether in town or village, we should try to live a good

and honest life.

9. Price spiral of essential commodities

Rafiq: Hello Salim! Did you notice how the prices of essential commodities
are rising these days?

Salim: Yes, Rafiq. It has become really difficult for ordinary people to
manage their daily expenses.

Rafiq: Exactly. The prices of rice, oil, vegetables, and even onions are
going up every week.

Salim: True. Poor and middle-class families are suffering the most. Many
cannot even afford three proper meals a day.

Rafiq: One reason is the lack of proper market monitoring. Dishonest

traders also take advantage of the situation.

Salim: You’re right. Besides, natural calamities and global crises also affect
the supply and prices.

Rafiq: The government should take strict steps to control the market and
punish hoarders.

Salim: And people should also be more aware and avoid panic buying.

Rafiq: Absolutely. If we work together, the problem can be reduced.

Salim: Let’s hope the situation improves soon. Life has become too hard
with this price spiral.
