VOCATIONAL ROSARY

The emeritus Pope Benedict XVI stated during his visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima:
The prayer of the Rosary allows us to place our eyes and our hearts on Jesus, as His
Mother, unsurpassable model of contemplation of the Son.

While meditating on the joyful, luminous, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries, reciting the Hail Marys,
we contemplate all the mystery of Jesus, from the Incarnation to the Cross and the glory of the

Mysterious Joys
(Monday and Saturday)

FIRST MYSTERY: The Angel's Annunciation to Mary

Most Holy.

Motivation: This mystery invites us to delve into

the wonders that the Lord is capable of performing in
those people who trust in His Word.
Contemplating the heart of Mary, praying woman,
we can penetrate her humility and simplicity. She us
shows better than anyone the attitude of listening and
welcoming of the Word. And this listening and receiving
produce fruit. It makes Mary a cooperator of
the work of redemption, because it makes salvation possible
of the world that His Son comes to bring. She welcomed the
Word with simplicity and boldness, pronouncing a

unique. The context is nothing special, it is about
from a little insignificant village, Nazareth; from a simple girl, Mary. And it is that the Lord
prefers the small, the simple, that which does not attract attention. It is there that the Spirit of God
camp, in the hidden, in the discreet, in the praying silence. Let us contemplate, therefore, how
God comes to humanity, approaches man in that smallness, becomes present in the
the heart of someone who listens to His Word, who welcomes it and who is able to renounce themselves
same.

Intention: In contemplating this mystery, we ask for the intercession of Mary our Mother, that
teach us to accept God's will in our life, and accompany our youth and
that they say yes to the Lord and commit themselves to His service. We also pray for women
single and abandoned mothers who feel in Mary the strength to move forward and educate with
wisdom and love for their children.

being your presence for others. May Mary, your Mother, take us by the hand to believe
in the impossible, to be poor in heart, to love humility, simplicity, and smallness and
to be able to remain with an open attitude towards your will and your Word. Amen
SECOND MYSTERY: The visit of Mary to her holy cousin Elizabeth.

Motivation: When contemplating this mystery, we realize that every true encounter
it is a space of fertility. Surely we all have the experience of having encountered
truly and deeply with someone, and we know that this happens when both
hearts "drink from the same well", resonate in unison. María and Isabel, undoubtedly, they
they found; her living from within turned a visit into a meeting. Both were able to

we also know the one of the Mother: 'The Son of Man has not come to be served, but to

Intent: In a society so closed off from itself, in which so many young people wander

the life of Mary challenges us and makes us step out of comfort and look at the world, look at the
eyes on the brother, look and go to meet him.

❖ Gloria
Sentence: Maria, infect us with your way of serving, of looking and of loving, so that our young people
discover in you the joy of serving others. May we learn from you the art of
meeting with each person, that we may see Jesus dwelling in our brothers

THIRD MYSTERY: The birth of the Son of God.

Motivation: María, like all Mothers, wanted the best for her Son. Perhaps she would have preferred
a better place to give birth to the Son of God, but in light of the precariousness of the situation no
she can do something else that makes herself available space for God, receptivity,
possibility of shelter. Only in Mary does God find lodging. And so, Mary did not only give birth
but gave light to the world, not without the discomfort of the consequences of childbirth.
Surely that night was not free of tears, suffering, anguish, and rejection, but
Mary lived prophetically the words that her Son will say years later: 'The woman, when she goes

Intention: For young people with a vocation for marriage, so that they form families, that they give
testimony of God, and his children discover the joy of knowing Him and serving Him.

❖ Our Father
❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Glory
Prayer: Mary mother, woman full of God, we ask you to intercede for all families so that
may they live in love, hope, and joy of having Jesus as the center of their lives.

FOURTH MYSTERY: The presentation of Jesus in the temple.

Motivation: In this mystery, we contemplate the purification of Mary and the presentation of
Jesus in the Temple. The family of Nazareth travels to Jerusalem to fulfill what the law
He prescribed. The whole life of Jesus is a constant kénosis (self-emptying), that is why we can
to intuit that this, which seems like a simple compliance with the law, is an indication of what will be a
permanent attitude throughout his earthly life. It is a whole God emptying himself of himself and
submitting, in freedom, to human laws out of pure love for the Redemptive work of the Father.
Many do not recognize the Savior. Especially the religious men, the wise and
understood, eager to meet God, they are unable to grasp the signs of the
new and particular presence of the Messiah. The simplest, like these two elders, Simeon
and Ana is indeed capable of seeing that sign and that novelty because she makes space for the Spirit,
waiting to be guided toward what God had promised them: "the consolation of Israel." Thus,
led by the Spirit, they find in the Temple that Child: Christ. Such an encounter and
prophetic gaze causes the New Testament to begin and the Old Testament to be fulfilled with the
joy of the arrival of the Redeemer, because 'true prophecy comes from God, from friendship
with him, from the attentive listening to his Word in the various circumstances of history.
Intention: We pray for the children and young people so that they may discover in Jesus of Nazareth, a
reason for hope and excitement for life. May they see in Jesus the friend who never
failure.

❖ Our Father
❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Gloria
Lord, may we know how to listen to the whisper of the Spirit that guides us towards the
donation of our existence for the good of our brothers. Mary, You who show yourself

occupation and another, our life, our thoughts, our whole being
FIFTH MYSTERY: The lost and found child Jesus in the temple.

10
Materials for the National Prayer Week for Vocations, Honduras 2020

Motivation: How much suffering until finding it! It is easy to imagine the worry,
anguish and anxiety of Mary and Joseph when they realized that Jesus had not returned
with them. Not finding him immediately, they went back to look for him. The surprise of his parents
was to find him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers who listened to him and asked him questions.
questions. This scene represents Jesus as a child but with the wisdom of adults. This
being with the teachers only demonstrated one thing: that they recognized in Jesus a wisdom and a
intelligence that left them astonished and that's why they let him be there, with them.

Intention: So that our young people and children find in their parents, love, acceptance,
and the acceptance so that feeling loved they can give that love to other people.

❖ Our Father
❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Glory
Lord, make us seek you always in every event of our life, that
let us not be content with seeing you from afar, let our desires to reach You be the driving force of
our existence. That like your Mother, we may step out of ourselves to begin the path
towards the center of your heart.

Sorrowful Mysteries
(Tuesday and Friday)

FIRST MYSTERY: The Prayer of Jesus in the

Garden

Motivation: Jesus needed a moment of intimacy

with the Father, for that he went up to the Mount of Olives where
he experienced the need for a force that would nurture him.
The difficulty did not make him flee or escape, but rather it
allowed to go even deeper into his inner self, to have a
moment of discernment, and at the same time, feel loneliness and
desolation. And although he did not find the face of the Father
but the 'void,' was completely abandoned through the
prayer, the moment when the Son offered to God the
own desires, he affirmed in his: "not my will be done but yours"

to keep His Word in our heart.

SECOND MYSTERY: The Flagellation of the Lord.

Motivation: Jesus is the suffering Servant of Israel. He experiences in the Passion the hardness of
the social injustices in which there are usually countless victims. Jesus is compassionate.

who suffers unjustly. He 'gives his skin' out of pure love. He takes on the 'whips of life'.

our real encounter with the other. That we live with a burning heart, aware that
our happiness takes shape, as we become means for happiness to grow
from our brother.
THIRD MYSTERY: The Coronation of Thorns.
Motivation: Jesus had recognized before Pilate that he was King. He said of himself: 'For that I have...'

he is crowned with thorns, a king who lowers himself so much that his glory is built and glimpsed

the inability to forgive, greed, and all those things that destroy the heart of man
Well. And it is that Jesus transforms everything he touches. God wanted to involve man in his
plan of salvation, came down to earth, assumed our condition and wanted to start from what we are,
from what we have, to transform ourselves and save ourselves.

Intention: We pray for all the peoples who live in injustice and marginalization, so that
be freed from oppression and that their people emerge as brave young ones who fight and make
assert their rights.

SECOND MYSTERY: The Ascension of the Lord

Motivation: "While he was eating with them, he ordered them: 'Do not leave Jerusalem,'
but wait for the promise of my Father, which you heard from me [...] when the Holy Spirit comes
about you, you will receive a power that will make you my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea
and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." After saying this, he was taken up before their eyes,
and a cloud hid it from their eyes. While they were staring at the sky, watching

❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Gloria
Lord, teach us to keep our hope in You, that we do not falter before
our problems and difficulties but let us place our eyes and heart on hope
that you are resurrected and stay with each of us.

THIRD MYSTERY: The Coming of the Holy Spirit

Motivation: The coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was not an isolated event.
In the book of Acts of the Apostles, we hear about the Spirit on different occasions and
from the action by which guides, directs, and encourages the life and works of the primitive community
The Spirit is the one who inspires, who confirms, who sends. In a word, his
presence and his actions dominate everything. Jesus himself had prepared the apostles to
the mission, to stay together and in prayer was the way to prepare the heart to welcome
the gift of the Spirit: "In the early hours of Pentecost, the Apostles gathered in
prayer with Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the Upper Room, waiting for this event
promised" (Cf. Acts 1:14).
Intention: Holy Spirit, assist us in our lives, that like Mary, we may be docile and
open to the action of your Spirit in each one of us. May our youth find
in you the strength to emerge from themselves and become disciples of the resurrected master, that
do not be afraid to give your life to one who will return one hundred percent in this life (no

FOURTH MYSTERY: The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven.

Motivation: María was a young poor, simple, and humble girl; she belonged to the group of the
the anawim, but despite all this humility and poverty, Mary is elevated, magnified she is one
of those holy women who were able to understand the greatness of God and His intervention
in human history. Mary teaches us that love is a complete, tender, and strong donation,

call.

FIFTH MYSTERY: The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin

Motivation: Maria is a character in the Bible who does not have much prominence, because
its presence is silent, but above all it accompanies; we can distinguish several aspects
important for what little we know about her in the Sacred Scriptures.

Mary is the woman who is taken up to heaven and is crowned as Queen of all creation and it is there
where the entire life of dedication of the Virgin culminates. Therefore, Mary is the woman who knows

Luminous Mysteries
(Thursday)

Let's delve in with Mary and appreciate the light that

They release key moments in the life of their Son:
moments of special anointing, situations in which
that the Lord reveals Himself, transfigures Himself and
show, announce what it means to follow him for
ending by giving an example, breaking apart and
sharing forever between us.

FIRST MYSTERY: The baptism of Jesus in the

Jordan

Motivation: Humble Jesus, in the line of the

fishermen, feel the weight of humanity
separated from God who has played with his love.
God never felt closer to men,
"more soaked" through this world. Jesus feels
humanity of yesterday, today and always. It
fully embodies to immerse that
humanity, drown it in the waters, so that with Him it is able to stand up again, to be
rescued, liberated, and living in the fullness of the love that Jesus has come to offer to the world.
Jesus, with his Baptism, inaugurates the Kingdom of God and takes on the conversion of the heart of
man.

the adversities of life.

SECOND MYSTERY: The manifestation of Jesus at the wedding of Cana.

Motivation: The first miracle of Jesus was performed in the context of a celebration, 'they were celebrating
a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus was there with his mother, and it happened that they began to run out
the wine. The first to realize the scarcity of wine was María, because María is
attentive to the needs of others, and gets involved in the search for the solution to
problem, for knowing who to turn to, to your son Jesus.

Intention: We ask for our youth, that they may recognize in you, Jesus, the friend who...

❖ Our Father
❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Glory
Lord, that when wine runs short in our lives, our prayer may rise with confidence.
To you. May the Virgin Mary grant her gaze to all who lack the wine of love, faith, and
hope and teach us to trust in your son Jesus.

THIRD MYSTERY: The announcement of the Kingdom of God, inviting to conversion

Motivation: Jesus in his life spoke to us from heart to heart announcing the Kingdom of
God invited us to a conversion that makes us shape our heart to be like His.
This call, although it is personal, is made to all of us without exception. He brings us His Kingdom, but
to be able to receive it in its deepest dimension, in its entirety, our heart
it must resemble and be close to yours.

Intention: May our youth, Lord, discover the values of your Kingdom, prepare their
hearts to change, to conversion, and to embrace the novelty that full life in Jesus gives them.

hopes, our securities, our longings in You and not in all those things that
they pass and end.

FOURTH MYSTERY: The transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor.

Motivation: The transfiguration of Jesus is closely linked to the way of the cross, it is a
a word of encouragement to face what is to come. The center of this Gospel story is the
revelation of Jesus as the only voice of God that we must listen to. But in the midst of the
night this voice sometimes terrifies and fills with turmoil, as happened to Peter, James, and
Juan. It is not the presence of Moses and Elijah that reveals Jesus as the Messiah, but the
testimony of the Father: "This is my beloved Son, listen to him."

Intention: We ask the Lord Jesus to help us climb the mountain, glimpsing the cross of
Jerusalem, keeping in the heart the revelation of a God-Son who suffers like us,
but let us trust in the voice of the Father, let us trust in you, as our only wealth.

❖ Our Father
❖ 10 Hail Marys
❖ Gloria
Lord Jesus, grant us the gift of living trustingly in the hands of the Father and living with
a heart willing to reserve no glory for ourselves, assuming the
risk of suffering by adhering it to Yours, so that our being and doing may be transparency
of the Kingdom of God for our brothers.

FIFTH MYSTERY: The Institution of the Eucharist

Motivation: Jesus took the bread and broke it; in the same way, He also wore out His life serving.
to others, sharing among those who needed its light, its truth. Then, he shared it
among the Twelve and said to them: 'Take, eat. This is my body' leaving a clear sign of what
what it was and, therefore, what the life of one who walks in their footsteps must be: to part and to share
the bread, to be broken and shared among the men and women of humanity. The Eucharist, for
