The general objective of this monograph is to understand the physical concept of the

single-family homes to showcase the different ways there are in their

structures, varying in their aspect of modernity, spatiality, and design concept
to represent it with a unique style for each of the buildings.

It is important to mention that there are typologies in single-family homes already

what this would represent each of them with their own technique both in spatiality
as in the design form which are very different in their volumetric shapes.

Some examples of single-family homes are from our country, located in

different parts like in the province of Trujillo and also in the capital of Lima, the

Ultimately, the single-family home is based on its shape and appearance by

MODERN SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSING

7
The single-family home is taken into account as it is a space inhabited by a
only family and the architecture of these types of homes has changed over time
years until reaching today, thus becoming a modern architecture and more
important for the country. These types of houses or residences are widely used in Peru
since they are not very large and practical spaces, although they have developed nowadays
single-family homes with much more detail and with a customary story of
Peru.

1.1. Modern architecture in Peru of single-family homes

For many years now, Peruvian architecture has been progressing.

1.1.1. The development of single-family housing in Peru

Modern single-family housing is highly used today thanks to

to the facilities in its construction, the usable use and the designs that have
have been contrasted with the country, which has caused Peru to increase in new
design forms according to modern architecture and constructive development in
the country. According to Freire (2008), it defines that:

The architectural evolution from time immemorial until now is

linked to the transformation in the architecture of countries with traditions
foreign, in this way specialists in this area have sought a way
to identify its buildings as Peruvian. […] (p.26).

Indeed, Peruvian architecture for many years used to

to resemble the buildings of other places. However, this fact has been
putting aside our own design aspects. Therefore, in the face of this

situation we must acquire our own knowledge regarding architecture of
our country, giving that point of identifying creativity of Peru.

1.1.2. Peruvian customs reflected in single-family homes

CHAPTER II

TYPOLOGY

10
There are types of single-family homes in such a way that they are different in the
aspect of its conceptual design form, expressing urban architecture in a way
different in its construction, allowing architecture to not only be based on a single
aspect of building but is changing in its entire form of expression in all its
details of architectural concepts, giving a particularity to each of these types
and other similar cases in terms of design concept to that of the other.

2.1 Types of single-family homes

The characteristics of these architectural styles in their constructions are

can be defined as isolated, paired, and attached types that vary in their whole form of
each one of them, each having a different concept in the way of
perception for its architectural representation in its design, form, and spatiality
that makes them different in their conceptual way.

2.1.1 Detached single-family housing

In the past, this type of housing was judged for being the first
housing. At the beginning, this was conditioned by a small-sized void, already
over time it was reformed with upliftings with various holes and floors
that come from the townhouse. This is intended for a single family, but
Similarly, more families can be incorporated. The layout of the place can be
explain in different design solutions according to their environment and earthly dimension.
(Kaufmann, 2018)

Indeed, this typology has been changing and incorporating a part of type of
steps for improving its shape, using planimetry for measurement of the
land to define the design. However, this does not change in the aspect that
it must cover a single family or in other cases, more families can be added.

11
2.1.2 Semi-detached single-family dwelling

The semi-detached houses are a pair of homes that share a

median strip where an agreement is reached between the lower parties of the regulations
and the structure that was consistent with the other houses that must be
comply with what the construction of this type of design must be like according to the
established standard. According to Burgos (2007), it indicates that:

The typology is affected in the use of paired or isolated residential private properties qualified in

the plan 0.06. This use is defined in blocks according to the use for each housing
unfamiliar on the intended surfaces, dividing each land proposal and
Building proposed with the character of ownership and private use. (p.17).

Indeed, this way is defined for the houses to share a place with each other.
consecutively through a regulatory agreement for its construction, but with
private divided use. However, this does not happen with the other types of
single-family homes

2.2.1 Detached single-family housing

This typology refers to houses that share at least one facade with
the other house, in many of these works of architecture share the exterior design
in the urbanizations. According to Ferbocar (2017), it indicates that 'it is optimized with this

layout, the quality of outdoor spaces, and the relationship between the homes,
generating a dynamic ensemble image, with rhythm and originality, proposing a
new architectural solution to the type of row houses.

This means that their buildings are very interesting in the way of their
concept of self-construction. On the other hand, the key essence for their projects.
it is uniquely without collecting in its form.

In conclusion, these presented typologies, each of them has its own

way of training in the aspect of conceptual design dialogue, showcasing its point
from an architectural point of view respecting the established regulations in the structure and

12
legends that establish that they must meet the requirements for each home
unfamiliar that is going to be built.

CHAPTER III

EXAMPLES OF SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES

13
Based on Peru, we will present some types of single-family homes.
these are in different parts of the country, such as Arequipa, Trujillo, and the capital
which give us references to the most well-known in our territory, making a
general diagnosis these single-family homes are classic contemporary built
Years ago and in the present, the difference is very great for architecture.
Peruana reformed its design concepts to provide better quality for the user.
he feels comfortable in the home, thanks to this he adapts to the technology that we didn't have
before.

3.1 Most recognized single-family homes in Peru

Among these, there are some contemporary single-family homes.

Built in Peru, still preserving its very well ancient architectural design.
preserved like the Chávez house which is located in the capital and the Cassinelli house
Located in the province of Trujillo, these houses are the most recognized for the
design aspect embedded in its construction.

3.1.1 Lima - Casa Chávez

The architecture of this single-family home in the capital is built integrated

with different volumes creating a dynamic hierarchy, visually perceivable
on the outside of the house, with a combination of virtual parallelepiped rhythms
composed in its building. According to Mazuré (2015), they define that:

The house consists of two main volumes: one located at

northwest containing the social areas such as the living room, the dining room and the
bar; and another located at the southeastern end that includes the private areas
like the bedrooms and the service areas. Both volumes are
they are connected by a bridge that visually opens to the once space
natural of the urbanization Las Casuarinas during the 1960s. [...]

Currently, single-family homes use other concepts unique to each

who to regenerate their design concept to carry the brilliance of their
project with solid virtual elements, Therefore, this is like a chain of
14
changing innovation for learning, taking the essence of each concept
architectural that we like, to use in our architectural projects.

3.1.2 Trujillo - Casa Cassinelli

The trend of those times was to develop modern architecture by

experienced architects from the United States, French, German, Finnish
and of Brazilian nationality recognized internationally for their design works
very innovative architectural, leaving a point of conceptualization to see at
the architecture in another way, which made us learn from these greats
architects who came to Peru and left their conceptual ideology of
building to another level. According to Mazuré (2015) they define that:

It has been observed that the Modern Form in Single-Family Housing

Peruvian built between 1950 and 1970 is closely linked and influenced
for the architectural production developed by recognized architects
international of the time. Highlighting as main formal influences
the works of architects such as: Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Mies van
Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra, Alvar Aalto, Walter Gropius and Oscar Niemeyer.
(p. 6)

Indeed, this brought a significant change to the physical aspect of design, transforming
an ideology of concept to create new buildings using these references
of new ideas left by these architects, therefore, these masters are
recognized for their ways of playing with volumes of abstraction, addition
architectural and linear flat elements which create a dynamic conjugation
in the way of your constructive perception.

In conclusion, the ideas that have been gathered over time for the
improvement of our projects in Peru such as single-family homes led to the
architectural construction base goes in a learning point, thanks to the
foreign architects who visited us and left their innovative design ideas
to develop and create new concepts, using different conceptual forms such as

15
serial elements, flat, curved which allowed a new idea of transformation in
the field of Peruvian architecture.
