I. Curriculum Content, Standards, and Lesson Competencies
A. Content
The learner demonstrates understanding of order of operations, ratio and proportion, percent, exponents, and integers.
Standards
B. Performance The learner is able to apply knowledge of order of operations, ratio and proportion, percent, exponents, and integers in mathematical problems
Standards and real-life situations.
C. Learning The learner finds a missing term in a proportion (direct, inverse, and partitive). M6NS-IIb-133
Competencies The learner solves problems involving direct proportion, partitive proportion, and inverse proportion in different contexts such as distance, rate,
and time using appropriate strategies and tools. M6NS-IIc-134

IV. Teaching and Learning Procedures
Before/Pre-Lesson Activity
Proper
Teacher’s Prompt:
“Imagine this: Your teacher asked you to prepare snacks for a class meeting. If 2 packs of biscuits are enough for 10 pupils, how many packs
do you need for 30 pupils? What about if we double the number of pupils?”

During/Lesson Analysis
Proper
Activity 1 – Direct Proportion (Classroom Supplies)
 Problem: 5 reams of paper are used by 10 teachers. How many reams are needed by 20 teachers?
 Solution: 5:10 = x:20 → x = 10 reams.

Activity 2 – Inverse Proportion (Work Sharing)

 Problem: 6 boys can clean the school yard in 12 hours. If 12 boys will work together, how many hours will it take?
 Solution: 6 × 12 = 72 → 72 ÷ 12 = 6 hours.

Activity 3 – Partitive Proportion (Money Sharing)

 Problem: Three friends share ₱1,200 in the ratio 2:3:5. How much does each receive?
 Solution: Total parts = 2+3+5=10. → Each part = ₱120. → Shares = ₱240, ₱360, ₱600.

Activity 4 – Direct Proportion with Distance–Rate–Time

 Problem: A bus travels 60 km in 1 hour. How far will it travel in 5 hours at the same speed?
 Solution: 60:1 = x:5 → x=300 km.

Activity 5 – Inverse Proportion with Speed–Time

 Problem: A car covers a certain distance in 6 hours at 40 km/h. How long will it take if it travels at 80 km/h?
 Solution: 40×6=240 → 240 ÷ 80 = 3 hours.

Abstraction

Teacher’s Guide Questions:

1. What happens in a direct proportion when one quantity increases?
2. What happens in an inverse proportion when one increases?
3. How do we solve partitive proportion?
4. Where do we see proportions in daily life?

After/Post-Lesson Application
Proper
Contextualized Task – “Barangay Feeding Program”

 The barangay received ₱9,000 to buy food packs for children. If the packs should be shared among 3 sitios in the ratio 2:3:4, how much
will each sitio receive?

Solution:

 Total parts = 2+3+4=9.

 Each part = ₱1,000.
 Sitio shares = ₱2,000; ₱3,000; ₱4,000.

Additional Activities Assessment
for Application or
Remediation (if
applicable) 1. If 4 kg of rice costs ₱200, how much will 10 kg cost? (Direct)
2. 8 workers can finish painting in 12 days. How many days if 16 workers are hired? (Inverse)
3. Divide ₱6,000 among A, B, C in the ratio 1:2:3. (Partitive)
4. A jeepney runs 50 km in 2 hours. How far will it go in 6 hours? (Direct)
5. A train covers a distance in 5 hours at 60 km/h. How long at 120 km/h? (Inverse)

Assignment

“List 3 situations at home or in the community that involve direct proportion, inverse proportion, and partitive proportion. Solve at least one
problem from your list.”
