Villar’s Vision Champions
LAS PIÑAS GENERAL HOSPITAL & SATELLITE TRAUMA CENTER
TRANSFORMATION
Former Senator Cynthia A. Villar and her daughter, Senator Camille Villar,
recently led the inauguration of significant modernizations at the Las Piñas General
Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center. This landmark event on August 7th marked
the unveiling of advanced radiology imaging machines and a newly constructed
connecting bridge. These enhancements are designed to substantially improve the
quality of medical services available to patients within Las Piñas and its
surrounding areas.
The hospital has installed a new 128-slice CT (Computed Tomography) scan and
1.5 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine. These cutting-edge
diagnostic tools are expected to significantly enhance the speed and accuracy of
diagnostic procedures, which are crucial for the early detection and effective
treatment of various diseases. This initiative forms a key part of the hospital's
ongoing modernization efforts, addressing the increasing demand for high-quality
medical services in the region.
In addition to the state-of-the-art imaging machines, a newly constructed
connecting bridge was also inaugurated. This vital link connects the old and new
hospital buildings, promising to streamline the movement of patients and medical
staff, particularly in critical and emergency situations. Its design prioritizes
efficiency and ease of access within the expanded facility.
The event also included the blessing of a new multi-purpose hall situated on the
11th floor of the hospital. This hall has been honorably named after former Senator
Cynthia Villar, recognizing her enduring commitment to healthcare development.
Her dedication, especially to the Las Piñas General Hospital, is a significant
legacy.
This continuous project truly reflects former Senator Cynthia Villar's unwavering
dedication to enhancing public health services. Her commitment began during her
tenure as Las Piñas Representative, when in 2004, she authored Republic Act
9240. This pivotal legislation converted the district hospital into the Las Piñas
General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGH-STC) and expanded its bed
capacity from 50 to 200.
Further expanding on this legacy, Republic Act No. 11497, authored by then-
Representative Camille Villar and championed by Senator Cynthia Villar in the
Senate, was signed into law on November 13, 2020. This act further increased the
hospital's bed capacity to 500 and mandated the construction of a 12-storey
building, which was inaugurated in March 2015. These developments collectively
serve as a powerful testament to the Villars' continued advocacy and genuine
service to the people of Las Piñas.
