Question 1
(a) Retrieve the file MAINTENANCE located on your diskette. (1 mark)
(b) Set the page size to letter size (8 ½” x 11”) with landscape orientation and with 0.75
inches margins around. (2 marks)
(c) Type, center and make bold the text COMPUTER MAINTENANCE, fitted two lines
above the content of the file. Change the font to Arial with font size 16. (4 marks)
(d) Divide the page into two newspaper-style columns such that the information on virus
protection is in Column 1 and the information on power protection is in Column 2.
(3 marks)
(e) Set the line spacing of BOTH columns to be 1.5 spacing. (1 mark)
(f) Exchange the contents of the two columns. (2 marks)
(g) Insert a footer at the centre with the text “Working with trouble-free computers”. Insert
a header, right-aligned and containing your candidate number. (3
marks)
(h) Replace all occurrence of the word “antivirus” with anti-virus. (1 mark)
(i) The underlined words are spelt incorrectly; use the spell checker to correct the spelling of
all the underlined words. (1 mark)
(j) Save the file as MTCE.

(a) Open the spreadsheet file ADMISSIONS2 located on your diskette. Move the
spreadsheet data so that it begins in cell A6. (1 mark)
(b) Enter your name in Cell A1 and save the spreadsheet as COLADM.

(c) In cells, A3 and A4, enter the spreadsheet title rows respectively:

(h) Add borders to each cell of the spreadsheet, excluding the title rows. Save the spreadsheet
as COLADM1. (1 mark)
(i) In cell A19, enter the text “Percentage”. (1 mark)
(j) For the range B19: F19, insert appropriate formulae to compute the percentage of EACH
year’s admissions to the total admissions for the five years. (2 marks)
(k) Format the range B19: F19 to percentages with 2 decimal places. (1 mark)
(l) In the range A20: A23, enter the following text:

(n) Sort the Spreadsheet in ascending order by Department. Save the spreadsheet as
ADMSRT. (1 marks)
(o) Enter the label ‘Masters’ in cell A20. In B20, use an appropriate spreadsheet feature to
return the number of persons in the Engineering department doing the Masters
programme. (1 marks)
(p) Extract the records that represent departments whose name begins with the letter E and
whose total admissions for the five years is greater than 300. The Criteria range should
start at Cell A25 and the extracted data range should start at Cell A30. Save the
spreadsheet as ADM1. (2 marks)
(q) Create a pivot table, on a new sheet, to show the departments and their program totals.
(r) Create a Pie chart showing the admissions for EACH academic year. Use an appropriate
title. The pie chart should also show the labels along with the percentages. Save this chart
to a new file named ADPIE or on a vacant area of the spreadsheet and name the
spreadsheet ADM2. (3 marks)

departments with tuition less than 1000. Name your query ADTUITION.

(g) (i) Generate a report sorted by department and showing the admissions of the various
categories of programs. Name the report ADRPT. The title of the report should be:
