1. Suicide is putting an end to one's life. People who don’t want to continue with life.
2. Causes of suicide can vary widely and may include:
• Mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder,
which are known to increase suicidal tendencies.
• Financial hardships
• Social embarrassment or public shame
• Intense physical suffering
• Chronic illnesses, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD)
3. In nearly 80% of suicide cases, warning signs go unnoticed or unrecognized.
4. Suicide prevention begins with understanding and identifying both ‘Suicide’ and ‘Suicidal
thoughts ‘.
5. Families should play role in identifying the true reason and raise awareness whenever a
family member commits suicide rather than attempting to prove that death is due natural
cause like cardiac issues instead of talking about this
6. Social Perceptions of Suicide
• Society often sets unrealistic standards, and when individuals feel they can’t meet
them, they may start believing they’re unworthy.
• In extreme cases, they may see their life as the cost of being not worthy.
7. Power of Empathy - Empathy is the primary and most powerful tool for a professional in the
field of mental health but its impact not limited between therapist clients. It matters in all
human interactions.
8. Crisis and Empathy
• Suicide is sometimes impulsive and triggered by emotions
• While intervening can be challenging in such moments, it is never impossible. A
timely empathic response can make a crucial difference
9. Internalized Anger and Suicidal Thoughts
• When our frustration, anger, or irritation turns inward, it can lead to suicidal feelings.
• Often, this is fueled by the false belief that death is a solution to all problems.
10. Suicide Prevention is a Collective Responsibility
• Preventing suicide requires teamwork and shared commitment.
• Let’s come together to support one another and promote a message of hope and
empathy.
We must strive to build environments—whether in offices, educational institutions, or training
centers—that foster safety, compassion, and support. And basic suicide prevention training is need of
the hour
