ENGINEERING MECHANICS ASSIGNMENT

1. A body of weight300N laying on a rough horizontal plane where

µ=0.3.find the magnitude of force which can move the body while
acting at an angle 25o.
2. Draw SFD and BMD for a cantilever beam carrying loads as shown
in figure 1 below

3. Explain Cone of Friction with a neat sketch.

4. State laws of friction
5. Draw SFD and BMD for a cantilever beam carrying point load (W)
at its free end.
6. The coefficient of friction between a body of weight 120 N and a
horizontal plane on which it rests is 0.6. (a) Calculate the horizontal
force which acting on the body can just cause it to slide, (b) What
least horizontal force would cause the body to slide if an additional
weight of 30 N be added to the body?
7. Write the equation for the simple bending theory.
8. What is point of contraflexure?
9. Define Limiting Force of Friction
