• Maître Gims, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna, is

a rapper, singer and composer born in France


May 6, 1986 in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic)
from Congo.
He comes from a family of musicians, his father was
a singer from the band Viva La Musica by Papa
Wemba and he has rapper brothers. Member of
Sexion d'Assaut group, he releases his first album
soloSubliminalen 2013. The album is successful
commercial with more than 1,000,000 copies
sold. In 2017, Maître Gims sold more than 5
millions of albums since the beginning of his career.
BIOGRAPHY
He arrived in France in 1988 at the age of two, with his parents who were then undocumented.
from the secrecy of his parents, he explains that he had a difficult childhood. This part of his life
is mentioned in his book Aim for the Sun. He is part of a sibling group of fifteen children. He is the brother
by Dadju, member of the group The Shin Sekai, from Bedjik, Xgangs, and Djelass, all three are rappers.
On their first album Subliminal (2013), the latter make a contribution to the
Outsider song. Maître Gims grew up in the 3edistrict of Paris.
Maître Gims studied graphic design and communication.
He takes the nickname "Maître Gims" in reference to Asian cinema and the world of the arts.

SEXION D'ASSAUT (2002–2013)
With his group Sexion d'Assaut, he released a first track in [Link] 2 Pressure; he was forming alongside JR
The duo prototype 3015. After a few pieces made independently, they meet their current manager,
Dawala, in the basements of Châtelet-Les Halles in Paris.

It allows them to release a CD titled in [Link]-earth; it is Master Gims himself who designs the cover of
CD. Shortly after, at the end of 2006, he tries his hand at composition and releases his EP, those who sleep with their eyes open.
on the album, we can find tracks featuring Sexion d'Assaut, rapper Koma from Scred Connexion and a
singer named Carole. In the meantime, he participates with the Sexion d'Assaut in two 12Inch 'AllStar (famous battle in
the Parisian underground) in the Batofar room.
In 2009, the first street album is released,the head crush; this is his first tour in France. On the school of points
vital, Maître Gims is credited as a songwriter and performer. As with his own EP, he composes
instrumentals like They call it, cap worn backward, etc. Other people compose some instrumentals,
like SoulChildren with The drug gives you wings or also Wisla and Renaud Rebillaud.
