SUMMARY
The Green Line train was established by Pakistan Railways in 2015. It is operated by Pakistan
Railways, the state-owned railway operator in Pakistan. The Green Line is an express train
traveling between Karachi and Islamabad. It was inaugurated by Mian Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif in 2015. The project was launched to offer a more comfortable, timely, and efficient
travel experience across major cities in Pakistan. It aims to modernize the country’s railway
infrastructure, reduce inter-city travel time, and provide better facilities to passengers. The
service began in 2015 and has since undergone several upgrades and improvements. The Green
Line train, a modern, luxury train in Pakistan, makes stops at several major stations along its
route between Karachi and Islamabad. These stations include Rawalpindi, Lahore,
Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Rohri Junction, and Hyderabad. In addition to these, the train also
stops at Karachi Cantt, Drigh Road, and possibly a few others, The journey from Karachi to

PROJECT PHASES
Project phases are the sequential stages a project progresses through, from initial conception to
final completion. These phases provide a structured framework for managing projects and
ensuring they are completed successfully. While the exact number of phases can vary, a
common and well-recognized framework includes five phases: selection , initiation, planning,
execution, and termination (closure).
Selection Initiation Planning Execution Termination

• Project Selection Criteria:
High public demand for a reliable and fast railway service
The need for a premium and efficient inter-city rail transport
To help reduce the financial deficit of Pakistan Railways through improved services
• Key Stakeholders:
Pakistan Railways
Ministry of Railways
Government of Pakistan

CONCLUSION
The Green Line Train Project from Islamabad to Karachi represents a transformative step
toward modernizing Pakistan’s transportation infrastructure. Through careful planning,
strategic execution, and effective management, this project aims to offer a fast, safe, and eco-
friendly alternative to traditional travel. By connecting major urban centers with a high-speed
rail system, it will reduce travel time, enhance economic activity, and promote sustainable
development. The project’s successful implementation across all phases from initiation to
closure demonstrates a commitment to innovation, public service, and national progress. Once
completed, the Green Line Train will not only serve as a symbol of technological advancement
but also as a catalyst for regional integration and improved quality of life for citizens. This
initiative paves the way for future expansions and sets a new benchmark in Pakistan's rail
network
