Europe Facts

Europe has 50 countries, but 44 have their capital

within the European continent.
Largest country in Europe: Russia
Second largest: Ukraine
Third largest: France
There are 50 countries in Europe, but only 44 of them have
their capital city on the European continent. The largest
country in Europe is Russia, followed by Ukraine and France
In Europe, some countries have part of their territory in Europe,
but their capital city is located outside the European continent.
The main examples are:
1. Kazakhstan – Capital: Astana (Nur-Sultan) → entirely in Asia
2. Turkey – Capital: Ankara → in Asia (though part of Turkey lies
in Europe, the capital is in the Asian part)
3. Azerbaijan – Capital: Baku → in Asia
4. Georgia – Capital: Tbilisi → in Asia (though some definitions
include part of the country in Europe)
5. Armenia – Capital: Yerevan → in Asia
So, while these countries are geopolitically or partially
considered European, their capitals are in the Asian part.
