Introduction
Ethical responsibility, compassion, and knowledge must be balanced to convey that
nursing is an art and a science in the delivery of patient care. After this, the nurses are supposed
to develop a practical personal nursing philosophy to situate their consideration of the values,
beliefs, and professional beliefs that will shape their nursing practice. In pursuing my
professional path as a graduate student nurse at the advanced level, I must have a clear purpose
and career path, which I define through my personal philosophy. This will assist me in advancing
healthcare, as realistic future objectives will align with my day-to-day nursing endeavors and my
motivations and core values.
Core Values
As an advanced nursing student, I must provide services and practice my core values to
achieve positive patient outcomes and meet my daily nursing goals. Compassion is one of my
values. During my care delivery, I must be benevolent at all times. The concept of compassion
has helped me establish professional boundaries, as it affects my relationships with colleagues,
patients, and their families. Another ideal value is integrity, which implies having an honest
character and being of good moral nature. In my day-to-day nursing practice, I will be required
to be devoted to the duties prescribed to me; responsible and answerable for my duties; and make
ethical choices to promote patient safety. Also influencing my care is my respect for the dignity
of human beings, which guides culturally sensitive, patient-centered care.
Motivation for Advanced-Level Nursing Education
Nursing education should be advanced because it trains registered nurses to perform at
advanced levels, e.g., as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). I possess several
3
motivating factors that promote my education in nursing at higher levels. One of the motivations
is achieving the objective of providing holistic care to my patients to promote safety, quality
outcomes, and equity in healthcare. An advanced level of nursing prepares nurses to present
evidence-based practice that considers all areas of human life, drawing on existing research and
logical scientific thought. The desire to grow my professional and clinical expertise is another
stimulus; I would pursue an advanced degree in nursing, which would help me advance my
professional knowledge and equip me with a set of skills and competencies to work in a complex
care setting. My other long-term goal is to become a mentor to novice nurses and provide a
clinical rationale. Successfully achieving the advanced level of nursing education will transform
my clinical thinking, making it more critical and ensuring the best care.
Future Positive Contributions to the Nursing Profession
In my future practice as an advanced practice registered nurse, I strive to improve nursing
practice in numerous ways. The tools mentioned include lobbying for policies that promote
equity and ensure access to healthcare services for all, regardless of their social position. I will
also ensure that I prepare programs that allow nurses to engage in lifelong learning. This will
keep nurses informed about emerging issues and trends in healthcare. As an advanced-level
educated nurse, I will build professional partnerships to improve the delivery of healthcare and
provide competent change in the healthcare sector. All these are intended to make healthcare
delivery efficient and effective, and to improve patient outcomes.
My Personal Nursing Philosophy
My philosophies of nursing assume nursing as a whole consisting of science, emotions,
and advocacy for the entire individual. Nursing is not only about curing sickness but also about
4
empowering patients through education and empathy. I will enhance patient outcomes and
healthcare excellence through lifelong learning, especially in evidence-based practice and ethical
accountability.
