crusher.
2. Crushing the samples and separating magnetic particles.
3. Determining the minimum quantity of crushed sample.
4. Grinding the first sample part to prevent contamination.
5. Cleaning the grinding vessel with air.

6. Transferring the second sample part into the vessel.

7. Adding grinding additives and fine grinding the sample.
8. Cleaning the grinding vessel with air.
9. Transferring the sample to the press for dosing.

10. Dosing the appropriate quantity for the press while separating magnetic
particles.
11. Discharging the dosed sample into the press tool.
12. Pelletizing the sample using a hydraulically powered press.
13. Removing the sample tablet from the press tool.

14. Cleaning the pressed sample tablet on both sides.

15. Placing the sample onto the transport belt for X-ray analysis.
16. Transporting the sample to the X-ray machine for analysis
17. Cleaning the steel ring after analysis and storing it in the magazine.
Powder sample preparation by Pulverizing

Before pressing, it’s essential to finely pulverize the material to

ensure proper homogeneity. QCS provides a range of disk
vibration mills with various configurations. Even extremely hard
materials like silicon carbide can be ground to a fine grain size,
ensuring high-quality analysis. The achievable fineness depends
on factors such as the material itself, input quantity, grinding
aids utilized, and initial grain size.

Throughout the grinding process, abrasion naturally occurs on

the grinding stones and within the grinding box. It’s crucial that
the grinding tools are appropriately hard and composed of
materials that don’t introduce elements of analytical interest.
To address this, various grinding boxes are offered to prevent
the ingress of elements relevant to the analysis. We provide
assistance in determining the optimal pulverizing parameters
for your powder material
Powder sample preparation by pellet pressing
Pellet pressing is the final process step of powder sample preparation. The choice of pressing method depends on the analytical needs
and the sample material. In automated presses, steel rings are the preferred option as they offer enhanced stability and minimize
contamination risks in the spectrometer by preventing sample edge eruptions. Two types of steel rings are available (Ø 40 mm & Ø 51
mm).Employing steel rings provides significant benefits compared to other pressing techniques, especially in automated sample
preparation systems. Steel rings effectively minimize the risk of contamination in the spectrometer by preventing sample edge eruptions.
