Student ID: 202208870
COURSE: FIGMA DESIGN CONCEPTS
SUBMISSION DATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2025
Introduction
This project aims to apply Figma design principles in creating a practical and visually
appealing mobile application prototype.
The selected concept, titled “My Daily Memories,” is a simple and interactive journaling
app that allows users to record, view, and analyze their daily moods and experiences.
The design demonstrates key UI/UX concepts such as consistency, alignment, color
harmony, and component reusability, reflecting a user-centered design approach.
Project Objectives
The main objectives of this mini-project are to:
1. Design an intuitive interface that allows users to:
o Add and save daily memory entries.
o View previous entries in an organized layout.
o Analyze weekly mood statistics through visual charts.
2. Apply modern UI/UX design techniques using Figma.
3. Demonstrate understanding of color theory, typography, and component hierarchy.
4. Ensure accessibility and ease of navigation across all screens.
Design Methodology
The design was created using Figma (web version) on iPhone 15 Pro Max dimensions
(430 × 932 px).
An iterative design approach was followed — beginning with wireframes, defining a
visual identity, and finalizing a functional prototype with interactive transitions.
Each screen was carefully aligned and spaced to maintain visual balance and usability.
Analysis of Main Screens
1. Welcome Screen
The Welcome Screen serves as the entry point to the application.
It features a light blue background, the app title “My Daily Memories”, and a central
“Start Now” button that guides users to the next section.
Decorative elements such as the moon, notebook, and dove icons create a friendly and
peaceful atmosphere.
The layout is symmetrical and focuses on simplicity, emotional comfort, and ease of
understanding, making it approachable for everyday use.
2. View Entries Screen
This screen allows users to browse their recorded memories for the week.
Each entry is displayed in a rounded card containing:
• The date,
• The daily note, and
• A mood emoji symbolizing the emotional tone of the day.
The consistent pastel background maintains visual unity with the Welcome Screen.
Cards are neatly spaced to ensure clarity, while navigation elements like the Back and
Add (+) buttons enhance user control.
This screen demonstrates effective use of hierarchical structure, spacing, and repeatable
components.
3. Statistics Screen
The Statistics Screen presents a visual summary of mood data over time using a pie chart
created with Figma’s Arc Tool.
Each color represents a different emotion (e.g., pink for sadness, blue for happiness,
yellow for neutral moods).
The design converts emotional data into an easily readable and engaging visual format,
following the principle of “data made human.”
This screen successfully merges aesthetics with functionality, offering users a sense of
self-awareness through visualization.
Tools and Design Elements
• Design Tool: Figma (Web version for iPad and Laptop)
• Device Frame: iPhone 15 Pro Max – 430 × 932 px
• Primary Colors:
o Light Blue: #AEE6FF
o Soft Pink: #FFCFCF
o Light Yellow: #FFF6DB
• Typography: Sans-serif fonts (clean, modern, and legible)
• Main Components: Buttons, Text Fields, Emoji Icons, and Pie Chart (Arc Tool)
Results and Observations
• The final prototype demonstrates a coherent visual identity and a pleasant user
experience.
• All screens maintain consistency in color palette, spacing, and visual hierarchy.
• The design reflects a clear understanding of minimalist UI design with a focus on
user emotions and daily engagement.
• Navigation between screens is intuitive and reflects the principles of usability and
clarity.
Academic Evaluation and Recommendations
• Strengths: Strong visual consistency, clear layout, and emotionally engaging
design.
• Recommendations for improvement:
1. Add a Settings screen for personalization (e.g., themes or language).
2. Introduce a Search or Filter feature to sort entries by date or mood.
3. Use Smart Animate transitions in Figma to enhance interaction flow.
4. Adjust button shadows and typography hierarchy for stronger emphasis and
accessibility.
The design demonstrates both creativity and practical understanding of interface
psychology — particularly in color use for emotional mapping.
Conclusion
The “My Daily Memories” project effectively applies Figma design tools to create a
functional and aesthetically pleasing journaling application.
It successfully combines simplicity, emotional design, and usability, resulting in an
interface that encourages daily reflection and mood tracking.
The project showcases the student’s ability to integrate UI/UX design theory into a
coherent and professional digital prototype.
