Message From The Prophets
Message From The Prophets
MAZATENANGO, SUCHITEPÉQUEZ.
FROM THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD IN GUATEMALA
CURSO:Profetas menores.
DOCENTE:Carlos Humberto Morales Donis.
TASK:
Messages from each prophet and their application for the current time.
Application for this time: The book of Hosea recounts the importance of the
fidelity and its importance in relationships, addressing the effects and influences
in behaviors. The relationship established by God was one of eternal love, and
it was signed by the pact. Before talking about the restoration of the altar of
God, it is necessary to mention the restoration of the family, because nowadays the
infidelity goes hand in hand with revenge and hatred, leaving no room for it
forgiveness. To forgive it is necessary to strive harder than to
to take revenge, that is to say, stronger and wiser is he who releases forgiveness that
the one who is driven by the inflammation of hate. The message of Hosea is a
message of God's forgiveness and this is a source of inspiration to live a life of
forgiveness and mercy.
JOEL
Message: The book of the prophet Joel is primarily eschatological. The first
chapter describes the desolation of Judah caused by a locust invasion, the
the main theme is divine judgment.
The devastating invasion of locusts is not a natural disaster, but rather the rod of
God's discipline over the covenant people. Joel gives a vivid description and
alarming of a devastating invasion of locusts throughout the territory of Judah.
Moses prophesied that God could use this resource to punish his people if
became disobedient (Dt. 28:38-42). In Joel 1:4, the Hebrew text uses four
terms referring to locusts that are difficult to translate.
Application for this time: While the people of God do not experience the
literal plagues of locusts, it is likely to see devastated congregations by
afflictions, sins, and diseases that affect entire families. The
membership must recognize the need for help, power, and God's blessing.
They must turn to Him with sincerity, intensity, repentance, and intercession.
described by Joel, there is only restoration and revival where there is repentance
genuine.
AMOS
Application for this time: Amos makes it clear that our God requires of His
people justice, kindness and equity, and understands that this is the true
worship. The worship of God cannot simply be centered on rituals,
it holds us responsible for having attitudes of love towards our neighbor, especially
to the poor. More than raised hands or offerings, God wants a heart
that shares with those who are materially deprived. When we forget
from this, we have forgotten the law, we have forgotten God and we are subject to His
justice.
ABDÍAS
Application for this time: God will judge and punish everyone rigorously.
those who mistreat their people. We can trust in their final victory since he is
our lawyer and we can be sure that he will make sure the truth
justice prevails. Everyone is proud, one day they will be surprised by
to discover that no one is exempt from divine justice. We cannot challenge the
natural laws, and much less ignore the spiritual ones.
JONAS
Mensaje:Jonás se abrió paso hasta las orillas de la ciudad y empezó a gritar con
all the forces of his lungs: "In forty days Nineveh will be
destroyed" (Jonah 3:4). For three days he walked through the streets and warned the
inhabitants.
And then exactly what I had feared the most happened. People regretted it.
from the king on his throne to the last slave in the most remote hut. God
he also repented according to the change of the Ninevites, and the city
condemned to disappear was saved.
Application for this time: Like Jonah, there are many who invert values.
spiritual, ignoring the power of the Gospel, showing indifference to
the call of the Lord. We must prioritize the values of the Kingdom of God and distance ourselves from
the inversion of values.
Many times, we disapprove of Jonah's attitude regarding God's command.
Jonah is, therefore, a mirror for every Christian; let's not expect God to act on
an extreme way with us, as he did with Jonah, when he led him to
Nineveh in the belly of a great fish, so that we can obey his will,
whatever it may be, for our life.
MICAH
Message: The Lord should discipline His people, this discipline came in the form of
captivity was not a sign of lack of love. Micah brought, in the midst of the
prophecies of judgment, prophecies of hope for the Jews.
God promises to exalt and establish Jerusalem again, He also committed
to make Jerusalem a universal center of meetings, where he was going to address
all nations. From the 'mountain of the Lord' the teachings would be spread.
doctrinal and ethical for all peoples. Finally, among the prophecies of
hope, the most important: a new king, the Messiah of Bethlehem Ephrata. Without
embargo, her hometown was not classified as the most important. This reveals
a reversal of expectations. Perhaps it was not to be expected that a great leader
descended from a citadel in the interior. But despite this, Belén was
memorable, because that is where King David came from. Another important thing mentioned in
the prophecy of Micah about the future king says regarding his origins, that 'they are
from the beginning, from the days of eternity.
Application for this time: When Micah wrote this prophecy, it seemed not
there is no hope for the future. No matter how dark the day is, the
keep shining in the light of God's promises. No matter how confusing and
no matter how frightening the circumstances, the character of God remains the same. He does not
change. We have every reason to trust in Him and that our future
it is secured in your hands.
NAHUM
Message: Chapter two describes the imminent destruction of the city of Nineveh.
No matter how powerful Nineveh was, no matter how great its achievements were, this
the situation would not go unpunished. God would judge the feared city, and it would not be able to
resist him. The Lord of Hosts was against them, the attempts to
defending the city against its attackers was in vain, because the Lord had
decreed the fall of Nineveh and the restoration of Judah, God will judge Nineveh and
all his pride and arrogance. The Lord had sent Jonah to warn the people
from Nineveh, and it was
when the city repented, He withdrew His judgment. However, the time of the
Nineveh had run out and the end had come.
The third chapter completely concludes the prophecy of Nahum by enumerating the
cause of the trial, the naming of the sins of Nineveh, when describing the
application of a just punishment and observing the reaction of relief from those who were
victims of Nineveh.
Habakkuk
Message: The wicked Babylonians would also not escape divine judgment. God
he announced his condemnation in prophetic sighs presented in this book in the form of a
mocking song, a poetic form that expresses the joy of the persecuted and
sufferers with the death of the tyrant. In summary, the five ayes prophesy the
condemnation on those who steal and commit murder (2:6-8), gain profits
unjust to live a life of royalties (2:9-10), they build cities practicing
crimes and death (2:12), commit moral corruption (2:15-18) and to those who
they practice idolatry (2:19).
Application for this time: The days we live in are no different from the
time when Habakkuk lived. We cannot settle for injustice,
corruption, social inequality nor with a defrauded religious system, if
we wish for the world to move forward. The discomfort that the prophet felt when
looking around and seeing all these things demonstrates the zeal one would have for the Law
of God and His justice. Habakkuk was saddened to see how distant he was from the
people of the Lord. We need to care more about the world around us;
We need to pray more, we need to love more, and we need to question ourselves more. If you and I
we do not feel uncomfortable with the situation that surrounds us is because something is
bad with us too.
Zephaniah
Application for this time: God despises idolatry, even having the
Holy scriptures, yet people still do not understand about the judgment that may come.
about them for worshiping idols for their own convenience. The coming judgment is not a
disposable matter. The prophets dealt with it, and the Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles
also, unfortunately, among many Christians, the eschatological themes are
a source of mockery and laughter. However, God cannot be mocked and His judgment is certain.
and true, and it will come upon all who practice iniquity.
HAGEO
Application for this time: We must give all types of resources whether it be
economic, moral, spiritual among others for the work of God, remembering that it is
thanks to him we have everything within our reach and not fall into
pessimism and sadness when starting a specific project in the church.
Zacharias
The message: The fourth vision of Zechariah is that of 'Joshua and Satan.' The prophet
he saw Joshua, the great priest, standing before the angel of the Lord. This is, in the
presence of God. The figure is that of a scene of judgment. The Jews believed that
those who were seen as scourged by misfortune had been accused by the
adversary, as in the case of Job. The many misfortunes of the days of exile,
and later, had made the Hebrew people wonder if perhaps Satan
I would not be accusing them before God. But through this vision, the prophet
he assured the people that God had rebuked the adversary and had defended
their own, 'a brand snatched from hell.' The central lesson of the fourth vision
moral purification must precede peace and prosperity; God does not
he can pour out his blessings upon a filthy people.
Application for this time: The people of God are still dominated by the
mismo satanás. El deseo de liberación, acompañado de la esperanza, todavía es
extremely necessary in our days. God saves us, justifies us and does not
accuse. We have an intermediary who is Jesus Christ, it doesn't matter what he says.
accuser of us.
Malaquías
The message: The last chapter of Malachi is brief. It opens with a
declaration of the coming judgment, which will be as fervent as a furnace. But he follows
immediately the assurance that to "you who fear my name, shall arise
"the Sun of justice and on its wings it will bring health." The coming of Christ will be like the
aurora of the sun, which provides life, light, and warmth. Each dawn proclaims the glories
of our Christ. We must start each day with a new realization of his
presence to illuminate our path, to encourage our heart and to
to fill us with the sense of the greatness of God.
