SwissManager

SwissManager is a software approved by FIDE (International Chess Federation)

It is installed by double clicking. click on:

When installed, it will appear in German.

To work with the program in Spanish, above, in the menu bar, click on
Extras

Click on the first one on the list.

Select Spanish (Spanish / Spain) from the dropdown menu

Now Swiss Manager will operate in Spanish.

Therefore, we have the Swiss Manager and its Help (in Spanish) installed.
We are ready to organize our first Chess tournament.

Let us clarify that what we have, so far, is a DEMO version. If you


click on? (at the top, at the end of Menu, on the right) and then on
Information... the following window appears:

How to transform it into full version? Easy. Click on Specials/Install


/ Show Terms of Use/Accept Terms of Use and note in
Installation code the password received upon acquiring this software. Finish
clicking on OK. Now, yes, click again on? /Information...

Let's go to our first tournament. Open the program.

Click on File/NewTournament and select Swiss System otherwise it

Here we are asked to assign a name and type to our tournament. Save. Once

SwissManager requests the tournament data entry. There are 6 tabs above.

The first is Generally what the following figure shows:

Introduction of players

SwissManager allows you to introduce players from an Elo list. This list
where all the player data appears is edited by FENACH (Federation
of Chess of Chile) and updated every 2 months according to the tournaments held and
results achieved by the players.

for Swiss Manager... that contains the Elo list that interests us. Save.
Unzip this file.

When you decompress that file, two other files will appear.

One, a text file containing these same instructions and another Excel file with CSV extension.
Open this file CVSy and save it as Excel Workbook 97 - 2003.

Now open SwissManager. Click on Elo list. / Import elo lists.


The following will appear:

Click on Import elo lists.

Now we will have the window illustrated below:

Let's finish.

1) Select elo list. Select the first alternative from the list

How to register players from the FENACH list?

Click on Enter / Enter players … The program will show this:

Here are two important parts in this window: the names will be displayed above and

Formation of couples.

Click on Pairing/Pairing Menu (or press the F6 key).

Click on the Start button and then OK. This is how we have formed the first Round.
Do you want to see the pairs that SwissManager formed?

Good. Click on Listings / Matches (or just press the F10 key).

If you wish to cancel the pairing of this round: Click on Specials /


Options / Delete rounds / OK.

If you deleted the pairings, you need to set them up again: Pairing / Menu
Unpairing (or press F6 key) / Start / OK.

Entry of match results

After a round of matches is completed, enter their results: Input /


Results... (or press F7 key).

To enter results, we obviously need pairs of players who have


round finished.

Let's hold a fictional tournament then.

Complete the data required by the software. Determine the tiebreakers. In Listings:
select who will receive awards. InOthers: Select Allow input

In the order of the pairing list: Automatic marking. In tournament type:

Finish by clicking OK and the window will open where you must enter the
names of the participants.

Write the player's last name and then ENTER. It will appear at the top.

Results
Click on Enter / Results… (or F7)

The couples appear and on the right the different buttons that will help us for
record the different results. You can also use the keyboard: 1= 1:0, 2=
½:½,3= 0:1, 0 = remove result.

We finish this tournament by forming the pairs for round three: Pairing / Menu of
pairing(F6).
