TASK DESCRIPTION:
ASSIGNMENT TASK 1
This assignment requires you to demonstrate your understanding of how health and social
care professionals work together to support individuals with complex needs. Carefully read
the following case study about Ms. Eleanor Vance, and complete the tasks outlined below.
Remember to apply your knowledge of different professional roles, interprofessional
collaboration, and ethical considerations in your analysis.
Case Study Scenario: Ms. Eleanor Vance, 42 years old
Ms. Eleanor Vance is a 42-year-old single mother of two children (ages 8 and 14). She was
recently diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease. Ms. Vance has been working part-
time as a teaching assistant. Still, her symptoms, which include tremors, rigidity, and
difficulty with balance, are making it increasingly challenging for her to perform her duties.
She is also experiencing fatigue and some cognitive slowing.
Ms. Vance lives in a rented flat that is not easily accessible for someone with mobility issues,
as it has a steep staircase and a small bathroom. Her eldest child, who is 14, has started taking
on more household responsibilities and caring for their younger sibling, which is impacting
their schoolwork and social life.
Ms. Vance is feeling overwhelmed and anxious about her future, particularly how she will
continue to support her children financially and manage her deteriorating health. She is also
concerned about the emotional impact of her illness on her children and fears losing her
independence. She has limited family support nearby, and her friends are mostly from her
workplace, making her feel isolated.
Task:
1. Analyse Ms. Vance's health and social care needs following her diagnosis.
Consider her physical health (Parkinson's symptoms, mobility challenges), mental well-being
(anxiety, stress, fear of loss of independence), and social circumstances (single parent,
financial concerns, housing, impact on children, limited social support).
2. Identify professionals who would be involved in Ms. Vance's care and how they will
be involved.
3. Identify potential challenges and ethical dilemmas that might arise in this case.
4. Discuss how these challenges could be addressed, drawing on ethical principles and
best practices in health and social care.
This assignment assesses LO3, LO4, and LO5.
To meet the module learning outcomes and pass this assessment.
In your analysis, you should:
Apply your knowledge of the health and social care system, professional roles, and
ethical principles to analyse the case study.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills by identifying challenges, evaluating potential
solutions, and considering ethical implications.
Provide clear and well-supported arguments, using evidence from the case study and
relevant sources.
Structure your analysis logically and maintain a professional tone.
Adhere to academic conventions, including proper referencing.

Level 3
In accordance with the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications, at the end of Level 3,
students are expected to have demonstrated knowledge of the basic underlying concepts and
principles of a subject, as well as the ability to evaluate and interpret these within the context
of that area of study. Students should be able to construct logical arguments about the impact
of the issue and justify their proposed solutions, and where students are expected to assess the
benefits and drawbacks of different solutions. This applies across all criteria, emphasizing the
importance of clear, well-organized, and well-supported communication. The "Critical
Thinking" criterion encompasses broader skills, including analysis, evaluation, and problem-
solving, which are valuable in various employment contexts.
