Hello everyone, I would like to extend greetings to our Principal Miss Karen Francis,
Members of Staff and our beautiful and amazing students! My name is Krhystina Barrett, a
proud Student Council representative of 11 R, and I am running for the Student Council
President position because I believe our school can be an even better place for all of us. As
your president, I will work tirelessly to make sure every student’s voice is heard, and that we
build a more inclusive, engaging, and supportive school community. I want to create an
environment where each and everyone of you feels valued and excited to be a part of the
Westwood family.
My goals as Student Council President are quite simple but I will make sure they leave a
meaningful effect on you. As some of you may know, I am a very vibrant girl as Jamaicans
would say “mi likkle but mi tallawah” . I never miss the chance to lighten the mood and get
people laughing and having fun. It is simply something I enjoy doing. I will organize more
events that celebrates the diversity of our school community, from cultural celebrations to fun
spirit days. Where everyone will feel like they belong.
One thing about me is that I always believe that everyone has a voice and their voices
deserve to be heard. I will ensure that every student has an easy way to voice their ideas or
concerns. Through regular student feedback sessions, I will always listen to what YOU have
to say.
Unu nuh tiad of being hot and sweaty in your classroom?
Can you focus in the excruciating heat?
From my experience, the heat has made it hard for me to focus in class, it causes
dehydration and even nausea sometimes, our classrooms NEED fans. If you vote me for
your student council president I will definitely raise funds to supply this need.
Don't you want the proper resources to make our classrooms and space comfortable?
I will work with administration to ensure our school resources, like the library, sports
facilities, and common areas, are used to their full potential. Necessary materials like
brooms, dustbins, and class bins can and will be made accessible to you all if I am elected
as your president. With the aid of fundraisers I will earn the funds needed for fulfilling some
of your needs.
Arent u tired of the longggg lunch and break lines every single day?
I will definitely fix the big lunch and break line issue we are facing. When it comes to lunch
time in some cases there isn't enough food like low supply of patties, cheese danishes and
simple snacks. I have had first hand experience with this issue on multiple occasions and
trust me I know how devastating it can be.
I came up with the idea to bring it back to the Primary school style. Do you remember how
easy it was for you to get tuck shop materials throughout grade 1-6. All we needed to do was
tell our teachers and or class monitors our order and pay and it would be brought to the tuck
shop with our money and all we have to do is simply listen for our names and collect our
order at lunch time? What if we did things that way? I know there may be questions like
what if i am not in my class or what if someone else takes my order but all you have to do is
go to your form class and collect your food. This strategy is a win-win deal both for the
persons operating the tuck shop and you our customers.
We need to enter more competitions being such a noble institution, we need to push the
clubs to do more and be more competitive so our names will continue being known. Also I
would not do this without advocating for our Leaders in Training, monitors , club execs and
classroom execs. We need bigger badges. People need to know who we are and what
purpose we serve, these badges are not enough. If i am elected as your president i will
make it a part of my duty to ensure there is an upgrade in your badges.
Let’s make school a place where we feel proud to be! Bringing back the original feeling of
our spirit week which some of us are yet to experience, I want to help create more
opportunities for students to show their school pride and connect with one another."
"Throughout my time at Westwood, I’ve been actively involved in the tourism action club
where for the past four years I have served as the public relations officer, advertising the
club to others and bringing in more people. This portrays my loyalty and determination, I am
now one of the vice presidents of our innovative association . Whether it's helping to plan
meetings , or creating projects for competitions , I’ve proven that I’m dedicated and capable
of making things happen. I’m a team player who believes in collaboration, and I’m not afraid
to stand up for what’s best for our school. Most importantly, I’m genuinely passionate about
making our time at school as enjoyable and meaningful as possible."
I believe in the power of collaboration, respect, and inclusivity. Every voice matters, and I
want to create a space where we can all come together to make our school a better place for
everyone, regardless of background or interests. My position will be based on openness,
fairness, and listening to each and every one of you.

If you want a Student Council President who will work hard to represent all of you, listen to
your concerns, ensure there are times that we have fun and make our school a place where
we can all thrive, I’d be honored to have your vote. Together, we can make this year
unforgettable. Let’s make our school the best it can be — vote for me Krhystina Barrett for
Student Council President!
