probably most of these Psalms (Those that are recorded as being

of the children of Kore) was written by David, a man after God's own heart, a
man who had gone through so many experiences, whether at the tops of the mountains, or
in deep valleys; a man who had passed through the valley of the shadow of death and who was
on the rock, in the tower, in the high place. And from these diverse experiences with God, he

derramou seu coração em salmos para cantar a Deus. Provavelmente Davi escreveu os
Psalms, and gave them to the master of song to be set to music, the sons of Korah
the ones who sang in the house of God. Psalm 42 is the first of these psalms of the sons of
Core. It is a didactic psalm. It is a psalm that should teach us and instruct us in
things of God. It has a permanent and eternal value and is something we must
learn by heart.

the event is recorded in II Samuel 15. David had to leave in a hurry from
Jerusalem. And far from his city, from his kingdom, in the deep sadness of his heart he,
probably wrote this psalm.
It is interesting to note that what David missed the most was not the privileges that a

God. As the deer longs for the streams of water, so longs my soul for you, O God,
sighs my soul. My soul longs for God, for the living God; when

I was passing with the crowd of people and guiding them in procession to the House of God,

Amidst shouts of joy and praise, a crowd celebrates. Psalm 42:1-4

Davi wanted to return to Jerusalem, mainly because it was the place of worship, of
sacrifices, in communion with God. It was there that his people gathered to worship and praise
to God. He desperately longed to return, his soul cried out for this moment.
David longed very much for God. And in the anguish of his soul, he tried to comfort it:
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I will still praise Him, my help and my God.
what consoled David was not the possibility of reigning again, it was not his throne, his
riches, but the possibility of worshiping your God again. The possibility of
return to being in the presence of your God.
