AQL Sampling Plans for Inspections

UNE 66020-1 is a standard that outlines sampling procedures for attribute inspection, specifically focusing on lot-by-lot inspections indexed by the acceptable quality level (AQL). It replaces the previous UNE 66020 standard from 1973 and is equivalent to ISO 2859-1:1999. The document includes guidelines for consultation, definitions, sampling plans, and various tables related to sampling sizes and risks associated with inspections.

1 OBJECT AND SCOPE OF APPLICATION

1.1 This part of the UNE 66020 standard establishes a sampling acceptance system for inspection.
attributes. It is tabulated in terms of Acceptable Quality Level (AQL).

Its purpose is to stimulate the supplier through economic and psychological pressure of non-acceptance of batches, to
maintain a process average at least as good as the specified NCA, while providing a limit
superior for the client's risk of occasionally accepting a defective batch.

The sampling plans set out in this part of the UNE 66020 Standard are applicable without constituting a
limitation on the inspection of:

a) final elements;
b) components and raw materials;
c) activities;
d) materials in process;
e) warehouse stock;
f) maintenance operations;
g) data or records;
h) administrative procedures.

1.2 These plans are primarily prepared for use in continuous series of batches, that is, series of...
sufficiently large to allow the application of the rules (see section 9.3) of change. These rules provide:

a) a protection for the client (through the transition to a rigorous inspection and even to a suspension of the ins-
sampling inspection) when a deterioration in quality is detected.

b) a stimulus (at the discretion of the responsible authority) to reduce the cost of inspection (by transitioning to a ...
reduced inspection) when good quality is achieved in a stable manner.

The sampling plans in this part of Standard UNE 66020 can also be used for the inspection of batches.
isolated, but in this case, the user is advised to take the precaution of consulting the characteristic curves with
the end of looking for a plan that provides adequate protection (see section 12.6). In this case, it also
recommend that the user consult the tabulated sampling plans according to the acceptance quality limit (AQL) contained in the
Standard UNE 66020-2.
