Tutorial 2 – Definitions of the differences between data, information, knowledge and wisdom
Data are facts that can't be interpreted in any way. Data that has been sorted and given meaning is
called information. Knowledge is the use of knowledge learned through experience, which lets you
act in a smart way(Christensen et al., 2019). Wisdom is the ability to use what you know and your
moral sense to make good choices. For instance, raw sales numbers (data) can be turned into monthly
sales trends (information), used to guide sales tactics (knowledge), and used to shape long-term
planning (wisdom).

Tutorial 3 – Discussion on the information system, organisational factors, and strategies for
dealing with competitive force

To handle and share information, an information system brings together technology, people, and
routines. Structure, attitude, processes, and leadership support are all organisational factors that go
into a new system. Differentiation through innovation, cost leadership, and effective relationships are
some ways to deal with competitive forces (Habib, 2023). Companies can get a long-term edge in the
market by using data, automation, and designs that focus on customers and IT skills that are in line
with their business goals.

Tutorial 4 – Identifying the IT infrastructure of a company and emerging technologies

Hardware, software, networks, databases, and people resources are all parts of IT infrastructure that
help processes run. Servers, ERP systems, CRM tools, and cloud files may be important parts. New
technologies like AI, IoT, and blockchain make security, data, and automation better. These tools can
help businesses streamline their processes, make better decisions, support operations that happen from
afar, and provide customised services that meet changing customer needs and business goals
(Muyassarzoda Fayzieva et al., 2023).

Tutorial 5 – Operational excellence in enterprise applications

Optimising systems, cutting down on waste, and making sure they are flexible are all ways to achieve
operational success. Enterprise apps like ERP, CRM, and supply chain systems connect all of a
company's processes, letting people share data in real time and making the business more efficient.
Automation and data help people make decisions faster and hold themselves to better standards of
quality. Businesses can give customers consistent value and stay competitive in ever-changing
markets by combining technology with methods for ongoing growth.

Tutorial 6 – Telecommunications, the Internet, and wireless technology

Telecommunications allow people to send and receive computer messages using wired, wireless, or
satellite methods. The Internet connects people all over the world so they can talk, shop, and use
cloud computer. Wireless technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G make it easier to move around
and get to info in real time. These tools make it easier for people to work together, keep customers
interested, and get things done. This makes it possible for businesses to run smoothly even when they
are in different places(Cho & Shin, 2021).

Tutorial 7 – Decision-making and decision support systems

Decision Support Systems (DSS) gather, process, and examine data that is useful for helping
managers make decisions. To reduce error, these systems use analytical models, predictions, and
simulations of different possible outcomes. DSS can combine data from inside and outside the
company, which helps companies spot trends, make better use of their resources, and plan more
strategically. For example, store DSS tools help predict demand, which helps keep product levels and
sales results at their best.

Tutorial 8 – E-commerce strategies for digital markets and goods

B2C, B2B, mobile commerce, and omnichannel interaction are all types of e-commerce tactics. Some
of the most important methods are SEO, focused ads, safe payment systems, and personalised
suggestions. Collaborations with influencers and social media efforts help you reach more people, and
mobile websites make the experience better for users. Logistics that work well and customer service
that you can count on help a brand's image. Adopting data-driven marketing gives you a competitive
edge and ensures long-term growth in your online sales in global markets that are always changing.

Tutorial 9 – Collecting and managing data, information, and knowledge

Businesses use transaction systems, CRM tools, surveys, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices to
gather data. After being collected, data is checked for accuracy and saved in safe databases or the
cloud. Data that has been processed gives rise to information, and study and understanding give rise to
knowledge. Strong rules for governance, data protection, and access control make sure that data is
used in an honest and trustworthy way, which helps people make smart decisions and plan their
businesses strategically(Wang & Bayanati, 2023).

Tutorial 10 – Managing and building information systems

To build an information system, you have to figure out what it needs, plan it, build it, test it, and put it
into use. It needs to be updated regularly, users need to be trained, security needs to be monitored, and
performance needs to be evaluated. Integrating gear, software, and methods makes sure that
everything works well. IT staff and partners work together to make sure the system meets the needs of
users. Strategies for continuous growth make sure that systems are safe, scalable, and in line with
changing industry norms and business needs.

Tutorial 11 – Ethical and social issues in information systems

Concerns about ethics include invasions of privacy, wrong use of data, and infringements of
intellectual property. Concerns about society include the digital gap and the loss of jobs due to
technology. Laws like GDPR require organisations to have clear data rules and make sure everyone
feels welcome. Cybersecurity measures, moral AI use, and social responsibility programmes help find
a balance between trust and innovation, making sure that technology works for everyone in a fair and
long-lasting way(Labadie & Legner, 2025).
