STRUCTURE AND WRITTEN EXPRESSIONS
Bagian 1: Structure (Soal 1-15)
Tujuannya adalah melengkapi kalimat yang rumpang dengan pilihan kata
yang paling tepat secara tata bahasa.
Strategi Kunci:
1. Pastikan Kalimat Memiliki Subject (S) dan Verb (V): Setiap
kalimat dalam bahasa Inggris wajib memiliki minimal satu subjek
dan satu kata kerja.
2. Hati-hati dengan Appositives: Kata benda yang diletakkan
bersebelahan untuk memberi keterangan tambahan.
Contoh: Tom, a really good mechanic, is fixing the car.
3. Hati-hati dengan Participles (-ing atau -ed):
1. Present Participle (-ing): Bermakna aktif (sedang dilakukan).
2. Past Participle (-ed): Bermakna pasif (terkena tindakan).
4. Connectors (Penghubung): Gunakan konjungsi (FANBOYS : For,
And, Nor,But, Or, So) atau adverb clause connectors (because,
although, if) jika kalimat memiliki lebih dari satu klausa.
Bagian 2: Written Expression (Soal 16-40)
Tujuannya adalah mengidentifikasi satu kata atau frasa yang
digarisbawahi yang salah secara tata bahasa.
Strategi Kunci:
1. Subject-Verb Agreement: Pastikan subjek tunggal bertemu kata
kerja tunggal (misal: The boy/He walks, bukan The boy walk).
2. Parallel Structure: Penggunaan kata dalam daftar harus setara.
Contoh: She likes swimming, hiking, and cycling. (Bukan to
cycle).
3. Diction (Pilihan Kata): Bedakan antara make vs do, much UN
Uncountable Noun vs many CN Countable Noun: s/es (ss, sh, ch, x,
o) (-), atau like vs alike.
There is a book/There is an apple CN.
There is milk/sugar/salt/water
Quantifiers (some (+) CN UN) There are some students CN,
There is some sugar UN,
any(-) CN UN There aren’t any students CN
There isn’t any water UN,
a lot of (+) CN UN There are a lot of students CN

4. Passive Voice: Pastikan formatnya adalah be + past participle
(V3).
