PHARMACY DEPARTMENT

There are three pharmacies in the hospital,


two of which are for outpatients and one for
inpatients.
The inpatient pharmacy is the main pharmacy,
and is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
In the pharmacy, the inventory is monitored by
stock cards.
Drugs are arranged alphabetically, according
to use, and dosage form.
The compounding room is located in the main
pharmacy.

The compounding area is where paper tabs,


IV infusions, syrups, and other drug products
are made or modified to have characteristics
that are specifically prescribed for an individual
patient.

Depending on their schedules, interns are


assigned to different pharmacy divisions:
inpatient department, outpatient department,
outpatient extension, compounding, and
clinical department.

PHC is a hospital that caters to patients having


cardiovascular related diseases.
The hospital is currently one of the few
hospitals to integrate clinical pharmacists in
the pharmacy department, as clinical
pharmacy is just starting in the Philippines.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

Going on clinical rounds with the clinical


pharmacist around wards. The clinical
pharmacist checks the patient medication
profile of patients. Afterwards, they advise
patients who are going home about their home
meds.
Compounding IV administrations and syrups
which other hospitals buy from PHC.
