This is a Summary report of Zoyaan since January 2015 to May 2015.
Strengths of the child:
Zoyaan has been very consistent in his language and
literacy development. He has shown great understanding
on identification of letters as well as letter sounds.
Areas of improvement:

Literacy
Language is about making meaning and communicating
within a system that has its own rules and conventions.
Literacy is the ability to understand and interpret
printed material, and to convey meaning using print.
Language and Literacy is crucial to the development of
childrens thinking and learning. This includes English
Language and also the Mother Tongue Languages (MTL).
Children use language and literacy to make meaning from
their interactions with peers, adults and texts, as well as
to convey meaning by expressing their needs, feelings,
ideas and experiences through spoken or written forms.
Language & Literacy Term 1 & 2
Name of activity: Letter recognition (c,b,d,f,g,h,m,n,r,s)
Date of observation: 14th April 2015
Objectives: Children will be able
to name the letter and its sound.
Setting : This language &
literacy activity occurs during
their learning centre time. The
child is given the choice to
choose their letters and name
the letters.
Observation: Zoyaan was able to
name all the letters that he has
chosen. He was able to sound out
the letter when asked by the
teacher.
Teachers Interpretation: Zoyaan was able to follow a 2-step instruction given
by teacher i.e. he has to choose his letter and name it. He was able to recognize
the letters c,b,d,f,g,h,m,n,r,s presented to him and was able to sound out the
letters as well.

Strengths of the child:
Zoyaan has been very consistent in his numeracy
development. He has shown great understanding on the
math concept being taught, count reliably to 10.

Numeracy
Numeracy helps children to make sense of
their daily encounters that involve
mathematics at home, in school and in the
community. It involves knowing and using
mathematical concepts, skills and processes in
ways such that relationships and connections
are formed and to apply them meaningfully in
daily experiences.
Numeracy Term 1 & 2
Name of activity: Rote Counting 1 to 5
Date of observation: 9 March 2015
Objectives :
Children will be able count
reliably up to number 5.
Setting :
Zoyaan was at the Discovery
Centre engaged with colourful
bear counters. Teacher had asked
him to take five bears out of the
container and count them.
Observations: Zoyaan lifted up
the bear counters, placed them
on the floor and counted with a
loud and clear voice.
Teachers Interpretation : Zoyaan was able to picked five
bear counters one at a time while counting it. He has shown
understanding of counting one to one correspondence.

creative expression area of development. He has shown
great potential and skills in performing art activities such

Aesthetic & Creative Expression
Children enjoy drawing, singing and moving to music and
they respond to art, and music and movement activities
spontaneously. In Aesthetic and Creative Expression,
the focus is on the process and positive learning
experiences rather than the end result or product.
Experiences in visual arts and music and movement allow
children to be expressive, creative and imaginative.
Children are able to express ideas and feelings about
themselves and the world as they see it.

Term 1 & 2
Name of activity : Cherry Blossom Art (Chinese New Year)
Date of observation : 9th February 2015
Objectives: Children will be able to use their
fine motor skills (fingers) to create beautiful
printing.
Setting: This art activity took place during
their learning centre time. They were tasked to
dip their fingers in the paint and print with
their thumb.
Teachers Observations : Zoyaan was able
to dip his thumb into the paint and print his
thumb onto the drawing paper.
Teachers Interpretation : Zoyaan was very
enthusiastic during this activity. He showed
lots of smiles and could not wait to start
painting. He dipped his thumb into the paint
and created beautiful prints of flowers.

Discovery of the World
Discovery of the World relates to childrens everyday lives and
involves children learning how to explore and interact with all aspects
of their environment. These may include their homes, school,
families, neighbourhood, cultures, events and the wider world.
This learning area helps children widen their knowledge and
acquire the essential skills and understanding to make sense of
the world around them. It aims to:
- Engage all their senses and use a range of tools, equipment and
resources to find out about their environment
- Gather information from a variety of sources
- Record and represent their findings in different ways
- Talk about their personal experiences and what they have learned
Discovery of the World Term 1 & 2
Name of activity : Lets Smell
Date of observation : 22nd April 2015
Objectives : Children will be able to use
their sense of smell (nose) and identify the
smells that are in the mystery cups.
Setting : This activity took place during
their large group (lesson). The children will
have the opportunity to express their
feelings on the different smells.
Teachers Comment : Zoyaan was very
curious when he looked at the powders in
the cups. He carefully lifted up a cup and
put it close to his nose. He was able to
describe the smells. He also tried to use
adjectives learnt to describe the smells.
Teachers Interpretation: He was able to
describe the smells. He also tried to use
adjectives such as yummy and nice to
describe the smells.

development. He is an active boy who is not afraid to try
something new. He was able to carry out tasks and

Motor Skills Development
Gross motor skills involve bigger movements of the body and
use the large muscles in the arms, legs and torso. They include:
- Locomotor skills that enable the child to move from
one place to another such as walking, running, jumping
and skipping.
- Non-locomotor skills that involves movement of the
body in the same place such as balancing, bending,
twisting and stretching.
- Manipulative skills that focuses on the control of
objects especially with the hands and feet such as
throwing, catching, bouncing and kicking.
Motor Skills Term 1 & 2
Name of activity : Walking (without stepping on the
hulahoops)
Date of observation : 6 March 2015
Objectives : Children will be able to use
their gross motor skill (leg/legs) to walk and
maintain balance.
Setting : This motor skills activity was
carried out outdoor/indoor. They are to walk
with alternate legs while maintaining balance.
Teachers Comment : Zoyaan walked to the
play area without any hesitant. He then was
able to walk and maintain balance
confidently.
Teachers Interpretation: Zoyaan was able
to follow instructions given by the teacher.
He walked confidently with great balance.

Name of activity : Rules when going outdoor
Date of observation : 17 April 2015
Objectives: Children will be able to follow
rules.
Setting: This activity takes place
whenever the children are going outdoor
for their MSD lesson. They are required
to find a partner, hold hands and queue
up quietly.
Teachers Interpretation : Zoyaan
was able to follow instructions and
rules She knows the importance of
queuing up.
Teachers Observations : Zoyaan
listened carefully to instructions. He
quickly stood up and started to find
partner and hold hand. He then went to
the door and queue with his friend.

Name of activity: Match the letters
Date of observation: 2nd September 2015
Objectives: Children will be able
to identify the lowercase and
uppercase of letters.
Setting : This language & literacy
activity occurs during their
learning centre time. The child is
given activity cards with pictures
of half an egg with uppercase
letters on them. Child is to search
for the correct missing piece
(lowercase) and match it to the
other half of the egg.
Teachers Interpretation: Zoyaan was confident
and he did not make any mistakes during this
activity. He was able to identify both uppercase and
lowercase of letters.
Observation: Zoyaan looked at
the uppercase letters on the card
carefully. Then he picked up a
matching lowercase letter and
placed it on the correct area. He
did the same for the rest of
letters.

Zoyaan has been very consistent in his numeracy
development. He has shown great understanding on the
math concept being taught, patterning. He was able to
extend his knowledge in patterning as well (creating AAB,
ABB pattern)

Name of activity: Patterning (ABAB)
Date of observation: 21st August 2015
Objectives :
Children will be able to create
repeated patterns using objects
(bear counters)
Setting :
Zoyaan was at the Numeracy
Centre engaged with colourful bear
counters as well as pattern tiles.
Children are to create patterns
following the pattern on the card
as a guide.
Observations: Zoyaan examined
the pattern carefully. He then
lifted up a bear from the container
Teachers Interpretation : Zoyaan showed understanding and create ABAB patterns.

Name of activity : Wrapping Paper Design
Date of observation : 7th October 2015
Objectives: Children will be able to create
stamping using recycled materials.
Setting: This art activity took place during
their learning centre time. They were tasked
use toilet rolls and stamp on a drawing paper,
creating own patterns/designs.
Teachers Observations : He chose the
colour paint that he wants and started
stamping, creating AB patterns on paper.
Teachers Interpretation : Zoyaan was able to
follow instructions given by the teacher. He
gripped the stamp tool and create beautiful
patterns.

Name of activity : Observe the feather
Date of observation : 26th August 2015
Objectives : Children will be able to
observe and talk about the feather.
Setting : This activity occurs during their
Discovery of The World lesson. Children are
to hold a magnifying glass and feather in
their hands, and observe the feather. They
then will express their thoughts about the
feather.
Teachers Comment : Zoyaan lifted up the
feather gently and the magnifying glass on
another hand. He was seen looking through
the magnifying glass to give a closer look at
the feather.
Teachers Interpretation: Zoyaan informed
the teacher that the feather felt very soft,
light and he can easily blow it away. He is able to
describe how he feels about the feather.

Name of activity : Overarm Strike
Date of observation : 16 Oct 2015
Objectives : Children will be able to
perform overarm strike.
Setting : This activity takes place
indoors. Teacher demonstrated the
overarm strike and children are to
follow the instructions given (swing
arm backwards, arm to ear level, eyes
on target and strike). Teacher gave
cues to guide the children.
Teachers Interpretation: He was able to follow
instructions given by the teacher. He performed the
overarm strike correctly with great confidence.
Teachers Comment : Zoyaan stood
in the hulahoop and his eyes were on
the target (hanging object). He then
swung his hand backwards and
striked.

Name of activity : Enjoy playing with other children
Date of observation : 26 Oct 2015
Objectives: Children will be able to show
respect towards peers and play together.
Setting: This activity takes place
whenever the children are having their
learning corners. Each corner has
different activities/games for them to
explore. Children are to interact with
one another during learning corners
time.
Teachers Observations : Zoyaan was
talking happily with his friend. He gave
some of the toys to his friend and tell
his friend what he should do.
Teachers Interpretation : He seemt very happy playing with his friend. He is
not afraid to voice out his views and enjoyed playing together with peers.
