Coarse adjustment
The course adjustment knob
is the larger knob and is
used first when bringing a
specimen into focus.
This moves the stage closer
to the objective lens. Use
caution to avoid breaking the
slide when doing this.
Coarse adjustment
The fine adjustment
knob is the smaller knob
protruding from the
coarse adjustment knob
and is used to bring a
clear image into sharper
focus.
The fine adjustment
knob is used second.
Arm
The arm acts as support
for the microscope and
connects the eyepiece
and base.
The arm is one of the
parts you must hold
properly secure the
microscope while
carrying it.
Stage
The stage where your slide is
placed for viewing. The stage
can be moved to locate
specimens on the slide. The
stage sits above the light
source.
When placing a slide on the
stage for viewing, remember
that to put the stage at its
lowest position to avoid
accidentally breaking a slide.
pillar
The base acts as support. It
is the bottom most part of
the microscope.
The base,
base along with the
arm, are used to safely carry
the microscope to a table.

COMPOUND MICROSCOPE
The eyepiece is the point
where you look at your
specimen.
The eyepiece has a
magnification of 10X. This
is important to remember
when calculating the total
magnification.
COMPOUND MICROSCOPE
Our microscopes have
four objectives.
objectives The
objectives are 4X, 10X,
40X and 100X.
The shortest objective is
the lowest power.
