What is Nanorobotics?
is an emerging technology field
creating machines or robots whose
components are at or near the scale of
a nanometer.
MOLECULAR BIOMIMETICS:
NANOTECHNOLOGY THROUGH BIOLOGY.
Proteins, through their unique and
specific interactions with other
macromolecules and inorganics, control
structures and functions of all biological
hard and soft tissues in organisms.
VISUALIZATION OF NANOMETER
The ratio of the Earth to a childs marble is roughly the ratio
of a meter to a nanometer.
It is a million times smaller than the length of an ant.
A sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick.
A red blood cell is about 7,000-8,000 nanometers in
diameter.
A strand of DNA is 2.5 nanometers in diameter.
TYPES OF NANOROBOTS AND
APPLICATIONS
Smallest engine ever created
TYPES OF NANOROBOTS AND
APPLICATIONS
3D-motion nanomachines from DNA
EXAMPLES OF NANOTECHNOLOGY
Super Condoms
Using a simple nano-fabrication
technique called electro-spinning,
researchers have successfully
manufactured a fabric woven from
sperm-blocking fibers knitted
together with anti-HIV drug delivery
fibers
EXAMPLES OF NANOTECHNOLOGY
Molecule Printers
The new technology, which was in
part funded by the National Science
Foundation, is called the Parabon
Essemblix Drug Development
Platform, and it combines computer-
aided design (CAD) software called
inSquio with nanoscale fabrication
technology
EXAMPLES OF NANOTECHNOLOGY
Artificial Muscles
Carbon nanotube is dipped into
charged solution, it absorbs ions,
expanding and coiling up. And
when it releases those ions, it uncoils
in the other direction, stretching out.
This motion coiling and
expanding, then uncoiling and
stretching emulates the action of
a muscle.
