Personal Area Network Overview

This document provides an introduction and overview of computer networks including defining what a computer network is, discussing the five components of data communication, describing different network topologies like mesh, star, bus and ring, and defining different types of networks including personal area networks, local area networks, wide area networks, metropolitan area networks, and internetworks like the Internet. The document also discusses data representation, data flow, physical network structures, and defines LANs, MANs, and WANs based on geographical area.

Assignments

Please check the course yahoo group everyday

for assignment notifications
Assignments will usually be comprised of two
parts:
Course based questions
Research paper based questions
Submission date is given with each assignment
Late assignments are not accepted unless
specially allowed (permission for late
submission, due to a genuine reason,
must be taken before deadline)
Academic Honesty

Your work in this class must be your own

If students are found to have collaborated
excessively or to have cheated (e.g. by copying or
sharing answers during an assignment or
examination), all involved will, at a minimum,
receive grades of 0 (in that assignment)for the first
infraction
2nd infraction will result in a grade of 0 (in all
assignments)
Further infractions will result in failure in the
course.
