The city of Liverpool is placed in the part northwest of
Great Britain, in Merseyside's county. It is surrounded by
the south part and west by the river Mersey, for the north
it borders on Sefton and for this on Knowsley. Nowadays
it has approximately five hundred thousand inhabitants,
of which 90 % is of British origin.

grains, flours, blonde, rum, indigo and tobacco.

During the 20th century the suburbs of Liverpool developed
massively, which improved the quality of life of thousands of
families. The census reached a maximum of more than 850
000 persons in 1931, to go down up to the half in 2001.

The Albert Dock was not always as we know and see it today: its history
dates back over 170 years to 1839. Following a period of dereliction and
a complete regeneration, the Dock was officially reopened in 1988.

The International Slavery Museum opened in August 2007 and in March
2010 welcomed its millionth visitor. It is the only museum of its kind to

Built in the early 19th century for Liverpool Mayor Nicholas Robinson, Sudley became
the house of Victorian ship owner and merchant George Holt in 1883. It was all
bequeathed to the city in 1944 by Holt's daughter Emma Holt. It is run by National
Museums Liverpool. After a period of two years of work, it was reopened on 26 May
2007 following a 1 million refurbishment including many new attractions.
