Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior
Practice Behavior 1.1

Make ethical decisions by applying the


standards of the NASW Code of Ethics,
relevant laws and regulations, models for
ethical decision-making, ethical conduct of
research, and additional codes of ethics as
appropriate to context.
Ex: Maintain confidentiality, and show that I am
trustworthy.
Practice Behavior 1.2
Use reflection and self-regulation to manage
personal values and maintain professionalism
in practice situations.
• After each workday, write down what I did and
come up with effective ways to conduct
myself in a professional manner, as well as
maintain my personal values.
• Journal or make a strength/weaknesses list.
Practice Behavior 1.3
• Demonstrate professional demeanor in
behavior; appearance; and oral, written, and
electronic communication.
• Show up to work on time, dress appropriately,
treat my supervisor and fellow coworkers with
respect. Be able to work effectively with other
people at the jobsite.
Practice Behavior 1.4
Use technology ethically and appropriately to
facilitate practice outcomes.
Get permission from employer to go on certain
websites if I am unsure about using those
particular sites for research for work related
projects.
Practice behavior 1.5
• Use supervision and consultation to guide
professional judgment and behavior
• Talk to supervisor to make sure that I am
interacting with clients in the right way if I am
unsure about the way I am handling situations
professionally.
