GENERAL INFORMATION
A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction, but is not consumed by the
reaction; hence a catalyst can be recovered chemically unchanged at the end of the reaction it
has been used to speed up, or catalyze.

ZIRCONIA SUPPORTED METAL OXIDE CATALYSTS
• Zirconia supported mixed metal oxides (ZnO–TiO2–
Nd2O3/ZrO2 and ZnO–SiO2–Yb2O3/ZrO2) has
demonstrated the ability to convert low quality, high free fatty
acid (FFA) bio-oils into biodiesel.
• These heterogeneous catalysts will enable biodiesel manufactu
rers to avoid problems inherent in homogeneous processes, su
ch as separation and washing, corrosive conditions, and excess
ive methanol usage.
• Catalytic activity of the ZrO2 supported metal oxide catalysts
was highly dependent on the metal oxide composition.
• ZrO2 is attractive as a catalyst support due to its high thermal
stability, extreme hardness, acidic and basic properties
3
ZIRCONIA SUPPORTED METAL OXIDE CATALYSTS
• Pelletized ZrO2 supported metal oxides catalysts suited for
packed bed reactors and capable of converting both FFA and triglycerides through simultaneous esterification
and transesterification reactions have been developed.
• By modifying with acidic
metal oxides with cross-linking properties, such as TiO2, SiO2,
Nd2O3 and Yb2O3, the dissolution of metals were significantly decreased and the catalytic activity was
promoted.

ZnO/SiO2 CATALYST WITH MODIFICATION OF Fe2O3.
In recent years, increased production of crude oil with a high total acid
number (TAN), this has led to the formation of fractions with а high total acid
number (TAN), especially vacuum gas oil (VGO).
The total acid number (TAN) of crude oil and oil
fractions is mainly provided by naphthenic acids, which
have a negative effect:
• equipment breakdown because of corrosion
• reduced product quality
5
ZnO/SiO2 CATALYST WITH MODIFICATION OF Fe2O3.
Naphthenic acids can be removed by catalytic esterification of vacuum gas oil.
Previously, ZnO catalyst was used on SiO2 support. Currently, the same
catalyst is used, but with the addition of 5% Fe2O3.
The advantages of a modified catalyst is a high deacidification rate.

Zeolite catalyst KN-30
• The catalyst KN-Z0 is used to obtain high-octane
gasolines (components) that meet the
requirements of the Technical Regulations from
low-octane gasoline fractions of different origin
(gas gasoline, gas condensates, oil).
• Zeoforming - catalytic processing of low-octane
gasoline fractions
7
Zeolite catalyst KN-30
• For use in the process "Zeoforming", developed
by STK "Ceosit".
8
Zeolite catalyst KN-30
Advantages:
• Resistant to catalytic poisons
• Lack of precious metals reduces cost
• The approximate ratio of the required mass of
the catalyst to the raw material is 0.2 kg per 1 ton
of raw material
• Environmentally recyclable
• Providing service support during the activation
period and the entire operating cycle
9
Zeolite catalyst KN-30
The main drawback is the relatively shortb
interregeneration mileage, which is about 250 -
300 hours. However, after decontamination
catalyst its catalytic activity can be restored
using oxidative regeneration.
