HTML Structure
HTML is comprised of “tags”
Begins with <html> and ends with </html>
Elements (tags) are nested one inside another:
<html> <head></head> <body></body> </html>
Tags have attributes:
<img src="logo.jpg" alt="logo" />
HTML describes structure using two main sections:
<head> and <body>

An HTML element consists of an opening tag, a closing tag
and the content inside.

The <head> Section
Contains information that doesn’t show
directly on the viewable page
Starts after the <!doctype> declaration
Begins with <head> and ends with </head>
Contains mandatory single <title> tag
Can contain some other tags, e.g.
<meta>
<script>
<style>

Meta tags additionally describe the content
contained within the page.
Meta elements are typically used to specify page
description, keywords, author of the document, last
modified, and other metadata.

<head> Section: <script>
The <script> element is used to embed
scripts into an HTML document
Script are executed in the client's Web browser
Scripts can live in the <head> and in the <body>
sections
Supported client-side scripting languages:
JavaScript (it is not Java!)
VBScript
JScript

Images: <img> tag
Inserting an image with <img> tag:
<img src="/img/basd-logo.png">
Image attributes:
src Location of image file (relative or absolute)
alt Substitute text for display (e.g. in text mode)
height Number of pixels of the height
width Number of pixels of the width
border Size of border, 0 for no border
Example:
<img src="./php.png" alt="PHP Logo" />

Images are stored in their own files:
Popular formats include: GIF, JPG, PNG, …
Example: CU_Logo_White_Large.png
The SRC attribute of the IMG tag gives the filename of
the image file.
Relative path: filename is relative to the location of the HTML
document (e.g. in same directory/folder).
<img src=“CU_Logo_White_Large.png”>
Absolute path: filename is an absolute location (e.g. URL or file
system location).
