A man by birth is more or less a critic. He does have a vision and reason has an invincible(too powerful to be defeated or
overcome) caliber (ability)of analysis. He does simply observe, profound analyze and finally concretize his opinions-liking and
disliking over the matter. This very impartial job is defined as 'Review." We do Usual see and read the book and film or movie

is ,infact, an unbiased, independent and impartial comment on something. Thus, it is a very tough and significant job. The person
who reviews the book or movie or anything else should abandon all his preconceived ( predetermined)ideas and other
impressions. He should make his best endeavour to explore duo the strength and weakness of the book or film quite impartially,
independently and academically because a review can coin or ruin the magnitude( importance of something) of the popularity of
a book ,film or anything else. So, it should be quite unbiased and independent otherwise, it just becomes a futile libel (insult).
Therefore, it is said that a writer just writes a crude book or film but a reviewer provides it with all make ups or glamour.

As I am a regular student of class 10, I got a chance to go through the present English Text Book of grade 10. This
book has been composed by Bishow Raj Joshi, Parbati Dhungana and Chandra Kanta Pandit. Curriculum and text
books of school level of Nepal have been modified time and again by the authorities concerned to cope with the
requirements of the changing situation of the country. This book covers all four aspects of English Language:
Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Exercises for developing all skills of language have been incorporated in
this text book. In this text book, there are 19 units that all start with the various language functions.
The main purpose of giving the title to each unit from the various language functions is to make students
acquaint with various exponents of language functions which are used in different circumstances and make them
able to speak English language confidently in national and international forums. This book includes various texts
such as poems, stories, dramas ,interviews, prose ,essays, tables and charts, brochures, memories, letters and
biographies, debates, news articles reviews etc.. Learning contents included in the text book are interesting,
applicable in daily life activities and useful to the learners.
• Consequently, the learners can develop all the skills of language equally and will be
capable of competing in the competitive markets and life –skill activities incorporated in
the book produce skilled and talented manpower for the country. The purpose of
designing the present text book is to make students independent learners. The cover of
the text book is slightly brown and blue with two straight lines at the top and bottom of
the cover page and pictures of learning students on it.
The book is not expensive, but the paper quality is not good. Printing quality is another
flaw of this text book. Language used in the book seems to be simple except for some texts.
In each skill, activities such as engage yourself, follow up activity have been kept. Other
activities kept in each skill vary according to skills. Enough grammatical exercises and fun –
corner are another interesting features of this text book. Project work has been kept in
some units with a view to developing students ‘creativity, social interaction skills, research
skills. Moreover, at the back of the pages of the text book, readers can find some pages of
glossary with their meaning and phonetic symbols which are very useful to the students
and teachers as well.
• On the whole, I enjoyed learning materials incorporated in it. My only suggestion to the
authorities concerned is that when we reprint it again, paper quality and printing quality
should be taken care of. The readers will enhance their various skills related to their daily
life activities if they study it intensively.

• Laxmai Prasad Devkota , one of the famous figures in Nepali Literature Sky, is always remembered for his great contribution to
flourish Nepali Language through writing a number of books on different genres. Muna Madan is the most famous epic poem
written by him. It is a popular book liked by both educated and common people in Nepal.
• Muna Madan presents a tragic story of Muna and Madan who are the main characters of this book. Muna is the wife and Madan is
the husband. They are extremely poor. Because of the poverty, Madan is compelled to go to Tibet to earn money leaving a new
bride. The wife, Muna, is worried about his safe journey to Tibet as the journey is filled with [Link], she requests him
repeatedly not to go. But he goes there in spite of her unwillingness.
• Madan becomes sick while returning to his home. He is left on the way and a Sherpa finds him and takes care of him. Inspired by
selfless help of Sherpa, Devkota presents a heart touching line i.e ‘Man becomes great by heart not by birth.’ After a few days he
becomes alright and comes home. When he reaches home, he finds that his wife has died and feels very upset. As a result, he comes
to realize that money is of no value at that moment. The story of Muna and Madan touches the heart of readers. The readers have
great sympathy for Muna and Madan.
• On one hand, it presents the miserable condition of Nepalese poor class people and the other hand, their compulsion to go to
foreign countries to earn money for a living. In this poem, Devkota has tried his best to present the biggest problem of the then
Nepalese Society.
• I like this book very much. Everybody loves to read this book as it has musical quality. So, I request all the Nepali people to go
through this book once in life.
