1. What is the story of Me Before You?
Young and quirky Louisa "Lou" Clark
(Emilia Clarke) moves from one job to
the next to help her family make ends
meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the
test when she becomes a caregiver for
Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy
young banker left paralyzed from an
accident two years earlier.
Will's cynical outlook starts to change
when Louisa shows him that life is
worth living. As their bond deepens,
their lives and hearts change in ways
neither one could have imagined.
2
But Will doesn't change his mind. On the night of Will's
flight to Switzerland, Louisa visits him one last time. They
agree that the past six months have been the best in their
lives. He dies shortly after in the clinic called Dignitas, and
it is revealed that he left Louisa a considerable inheritance,
meant to continue her education and to fully experience
life. The movie ends with Louisa at a cafe in Paris, reading
Will's last words to her in a letter, that tell her to 'live well'.

5. Why Will chose to die?
Throughout the story, Louisa and the Traynors desperately tried
to change Will’s mind.
He loved the “big life” he used to lead, but he could never accept
his new life in the chair.
it’s so hard to live a life full of extreme mental and physical pain,
especially if recovery is impossible. He probably never had to
deal with those issues.
So, he wanted the pain to end.

6. How are the disabiled right activitist
respond to this?
1. “This film is offensive to disabled people, the vast majority of
whom want to live – not die,” actress and disabled activist Liz
Carr told Buzzfeed News. “Our lives and those of our loved ones
are not mired in tragedy as depicted in this film.”
2. “The message of the film is that disability is tragedy and disabled
people are better off dead,it comes from a dominant narrative
carried by society and the mainstream media that says it is a
terrible thing to be disabled.” said another disabled activist, Ellen
Clifford
