Pediatric can be defined as the branch of medical


science that deals with the care of childood from
conception to adolscent in health.
TRENDS IN
PEDIATRICS
The common trends are as following :
 Family centred care

 High technology care

 Evedenced-based practiced

 Atraumatic care

 Cost containment

 Prevention and health promotion


FUNCTION OF PEDIATRIC
1. The function of child health services, the providing of
services to the community in the field of child health,
outpatients, inpatients and emergency patients, including
services
a. Preventive
b. Curative
c. Rehabilitative

2. The function of medical services the child specialist, is


carrying out research to cases of childood disesases that
can’t be resolved the cure is to attempted the way of proper
healing and efforts to increase the way of rehabilitation of
diseases of chidren.
CLASSIFICATION OF PEDIATRIC
Based on type classification the disease, the inpatient section is
divided into :
1. Non-isolating room
2. Isolation room
3. Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
THE EQUIPMENTS
 check lights, child flow meters, stethoscopes, height
gauges, thermometers, scales, sphygnomanometers and
children's cuffs
 Bed, blanket, toilet, AC, Refrigerator, TV,
DESIGN OF PEDIATRIC ROOM
 Color of the room : Pediatric patients is a childen’s care
unit, so recommended to use colors that create an
impression friendly and pleasant.
 Wall : on the wall, pictures or cartoons or puppets should
be displayed interesting illustration.
 Playroom so as not to get bored
ROOM FACILITIES
 Bed, Blanket, AC, Refrigerator, TV, Table, Chair, DVD,
Sofa, Toilet, Washtafle, Handwash/Handsrub, Storage,
Clinical/NonClinical Bin, Oxygen Point, Telephone, etc.
