Computer Systems Servicing NC Ii

CBT or competency-based training focuses on demonstrating abilities rather than time spent learning. Learners must show they can competently perform tasks to complete units. CBT programs are modular and allow for recognition of prior learning, multiple entry/exit points, and registration under UTPRAS for quality assurance. The trainer's role is to determine learning objectives, diagnose problems, evaluate achievement, and assist learners, while trainees can self-direct learning within guidelines. The core competencies for Computer Systems Servicing NC II include installing/configuring computer systems, setting up networks/servers, and maintaining/repairing systems and networks.

What is CBT?
• CBT or Competency Based Training is
training that is designed to allow a learner to
demonstrate their ability to do something.

• The key thing about CBT is that you either

can or can not (yet) do the thing that you are
learning about.
• Learners simply have to demonstrate they can do
a task, activity or exercise well enough to be
assessed as “competent”.

• In other words, they must be successful at the

task they are given to complete that unit of work.
10 Principle of CBT
The training is based on curriculum
developed from the competency standards;

• The trainer should be aware that all trainings activities

are done towards the attainment of the assessment
criteria set in competency based curriculum.
Learning is modular in its structure;
• A trainee should be competent in the module
currently being trained before going to the other
competency.
Training programs allows the recognition of
prior learning (RPL) or current competencies;
• Current competencies acquired through training or
work experience are recognize before training
through a validation process so that the trainer can
provide activities that match the learning level of
each trainee.
Training allows for multiple entry and exit;
• Trainers do not need to wait for others to be competent
before he can exit either a competency or the
qualification. Fast learners may graduate faster than
others.
Training programs are registered with the
UTPRAS;

• All programs should be registered to the Unified

TVET Program Registration and Accreditation
System. UTPRAS registration assure the quality of
the training.
