means PERCEPTION.

• It is derived from the German word “kraft”
which mean POWER and ABILITY.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF ARTS
AND CRAFTS
• Started in 19th century as a design reform
and social movement.
• It began in Great Britain in 1880 and
quickly spread in America and Europe.
• William Morris motivated this
movement. He is known as to link art to
industry by applying the values of fine art
to the production of commercial design.
