Pellet Transfer System

The document discusses the pneumatic conveying system for transferring LLDPE pellets. It explains the process flow diagram (PFD) and control conceptual design. Common issues like product buildup, airlock valve wear, and frequent line plugging are identified. Possible failures in the blower package and convey lines are outlined along with root causes, intermediate actions, corrective actions and preventative measures. The process and instrumentation diagram (PID) is reviewed and suggestions are provided around installation of expansion joints, temperature indicators, and inclusion of spool pieces to enable easy removal of equipment.

II.2 Identify possible failure with troubleshooting
The four pieces to every pneumatic conveying system are:
• A blower package
• A convey line
• A filter receiver/bin vent
• A rotary airlock valve

Common issues are :

• Product build up in convey lines
• Airlock valve
• Wear on elbows and/or airlocks
• Increasing frequency of lines plugging up.
