GENERIC STUCTURE OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
• 1. Identification : Identifying the phenomenon tobe described
 This paragraph introduces the subject of the description to the
audience
 It gives the brief details about “, who or what of the subject

• 2. Description : Describing the phenomenon in parts,


qualities, or/and characteristics
 This part consists several paragraphs
 Each paragraph usually begins with a topic sentnce
 Each paragraph should describe one feature of the subject
 All paragraphs build the detailed description of the subject
THE LANGUAGE FEATURES OF
DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
 Certain nouns, e.g teacher, house, my rabbit, etc
 Using simple present tense
 Using descriptive adjective, e.g two strong legs etc
 Using relating verbs for giving information about the subject,
e.g My mum is really cool, it has very thick fur
 Thinking and feeling verbs for expression the writer’s personal opinion
about the subject,
e.g I think It is a clever cat,etc
 Using Figurative verbs such as simili, metafor,
e.g John is white as chalk.
 Using Adverbials,e.g : fast, at the tree house, etc

Celine Dion is one of the most popular singer in the world. She was
born in a small town Charlemagne in Quebec Canada. Her parents are
Canadian and Frances. Her full name is Celine Marie Claudette Dion, and
her popular name is Celine Dion.
Music had always been a part of the her family as she grew up singing
with her siblings in her parents. Dion had dreamed of being a performer.
Celine Dion is very beautiful woman. She has pointed nose and beautiful
eyes. She is also tall enough and has slim body. She has light complexion,
and her hair is blond, wavy, and long. She is so attractive. Beside she is
a famous singer that has beautiful voice , she is also a song writer,
actress, and entrepreneur. When she is on the stage she does total
expression. She has never graduates from high school or college because
of the show biz stuff. Dion’s music has been influence by genre ranging
from Pop and R&B music. Some of her popular songs are Unison
(1990), Falling into You (1996), Miracle(2004) and My heart will go on
(2006) the soundtrack of film “Titanic” that became a popular film.

My Cat

I have a pet. It is a cat and I call it Spot.


He has orange fur with white strip. I like to
cuddle him because his fur feels soft. Every
morning I give Spot milk. Spot does not like rice,
so I give him cat food. Spot is an active animal. He
likes to run around the house. He likes to chase
everyone in my house. When he feels tired or
sleepy, Spot usually sleeps on the sofa in the living
room or sometimes under the table.
