1. All road builders in the nation are required by a INTRODUCTION
government decree from November 2015 to
employ bituminous mixtures and waste plastic
while constructing roads.
2. This will assist in resolving India's rising issue
with the disposal of plastic garbage.
3. The environmental hazard posed by plastic is
enormous.
4. Plastic is a remarkably adaptable substance.
because of Large-scale plastic manufacture during
the industrial revolution thought to be a less
expensive and more efficient raw material.
5. The use of plastics has changed several industries.

Dr. Michael Burrow Using waste plastic in road construction Dry process and wet process Dust and other impurities should not
exceed 1%. The shredded waste plastic is
then added to the aggregates that are
heated to 170ºC. The shredded waste
plastic softens and melts to form a coating
around the aggregates
1. Pratiksha Singh Rajput Bituminous road construction Semi-dense Bituminous Concrete (SDBC) By increasing the percentage of waste
plastic into the mix the Marshall stability
2. RK Yadav value are increased and maximum stability
is found for the mix containing 12% plastic
by weight of the bitumen. At 14% plastic
content the stability value has decreased.
Therefore, the optimum plastic content is
found as 12%
1. Prof. Shashikant . S. Manikari Bituminous Pavement Softening Point Test (as per IS 1205 – The Optimum Plastic to be coated in the
1978). aggregate is 08 % of Bitumen.
2. Vinit A . Sampal
The Bitumen content is reduced up to 8 %
& then this can be replaced by adding the
plastic

2) LDPE plastics yields good results at
S. Priyankaprakash optimum as 7% LDPE added plastic is
more stable and durable when
compared to the normal bitumen.
3) Addition of LDPE plastics have reduced
the bitumen content and also better

AIM :
To investigate the use of plastic as replacement for bitumen in flexible
pavement
OBJECTIVES :
1. To conduct test on normal bitumen &
modified plastic bitumen
2. To identify the probability of percentage
of plastic waste as a partial replacement
for bitumen
3. To compare cost estimation using plastic
waste
